Hello. My IGN is DapperEntity, and I'd like to expand into the island next to mine. I have reached the 49x49 limit, and the island next to mine is completely inactive. I have screenshots:

I had this island checked for logs about a month ago, and there were none of any kind. If you see a "Mr_Toofe" on the chests, he's a griefer who was banned.

 

I don't think this would be allowed in case the player comes back on and reports you. It may cause troubles for you down the road. Anyways, lets see what Cyp says.

 

All of the signs on it are in German anyway so for all I know they say "Island up for grabs, take it please."

 

It's still another players island, how would you like it if you took a break, came back and your island had been taken over?

 

I will leave all buildings/chests intact and/or repaired. That way, if the owners come back (which I doubt they will) I can move out and they'll have their old island back (albeit with some repairs).

 

I'd say, No deal, If the player comes back, there is a partial chance that A: the player might grief you, or B: report you for bridging

 

If this gets accepted, and they do, I'll show them this thread. I took that into account already.

 

That doesn't say anything about "Island up for grabs, take it." It says property of this player.

Okay, thanks for the clarification everyone. Regardless, nobody on that island has been there for over a month and there's no logs of any activity on that other a griefer who is now banned.

 

Besides the points that have been posted about the possibilities of the player coming back, everyone gets the same space, regardless of their neighbors. Why do you think that you should be allowed to have extra space when no other player gets that luxury?

Everyone can eventually get to the point where their island is full and they can no longer expand. It wouldn't be fair that someone with active neighbours on all four sides can not get anymore space, but that you could because your neighbour doesn't appear to be actively playing anymore.

Besides, perhaps something major happened in their real life. A month or two isn't really all that long if you consider possible illness, family emergency or financial issues. That player could still return any day now, and want to come home to their island, or restart their island which would destroy any of your expansions anyway.

Obviously I don't have the power to say yes or no to your request. Just pointing out why this might be asking too much.

Good luck with further building though, I know it gets rough when the space starts to get tight.

I had an inactive neighbour for 6 months but he has recently restarted his island and is now active.
