Some people get banned by mods for no reason! UnicornGRJ has been named because the donor Sophie thought she was griefing when she tried to move a ended chest. UnicornGRJ didn't know that it made obsidian. Sophie thought she was griefing because their island had been grieved that day and they had no cominication with each other. I am UnicornGRJ, no hate!
We do not ban for no reason. UnicornGRJ still should not have been breaking blocks on Sophie's island.
While I would say that most Mods do not ban for no reason (not referring specifically to this case), often Skyblock.NET has become ban first, and appeal later rather than actually banning after an investigation like it should be. While I am unsure of the reasons why, I can only ask the mods to at least investigate a little, rather than just pulling out the bedrock and banhammer. Appeals can take several days to sort out, especially with the less active mods, so ideally misunderstandings etc could be sorted out before the ban occurred!
Except mods make up a reason, so what if u can appeal, you're still the equivalent of tempbanned for the 48hrs it takes to investigate and negotiate ur unban.
Scamming, Griefing, Bridging, Advertising are all permanent bans in which is what we mostly get due to the fact that's all everyone ever does. We don't have to investigate too hard when we find logs. I ask questions and boom, I ban. Hacks are usually found out by console so we don't have to worry about them. Console bans hackers for 2 hours. Other things like maybe 1 block of a grief can be considered a 2 day ban or some Mods ban forever because it is still griefing. Blaq, you don't have our job. We have to go from point a to point z in a matter of minutes. Maybe afterwards we go and investigate more maybe finding more evidence, but other than that we're getting "Come help me with this" or "come help me with that". Actually, more than anything, I get messages like "Will you come pick up my spawner" or "Will you come un-private these chests". Which require no banning.
Mods don't ban for no reason, but mods, being human make mistakes and may accidentally ban. If a person is unaware of your intentions and do not give permission then nothing should be touched on an island. Mods have to take the time to look at the evidence and understand the evidence, but keeping the person in question on the server is a risk to others. So thats why mods have to ban. I mean imagine trying to investigate a grief when the person who did it goes and griefs again, making more work fr the mod. Mods dont always ban either. We create the ban hype. When a person spams they get muted not banned, but we hype and say "ban this guy" etc. In the end most mods have the freedom to act on ways they see fit, but are required to act within reason.
So long as u ask questions where possible; some mods dont even, and make assumptions. Don't get me wrong, the vast majority of Mods do an awesome job on the server. I didn't mean for this post to become this far off topic, but I was merely pointing out that sometimes things like that happen (krisseh perhaps phrased it a bit better). So keep up the good work, and all the time/effort you all mods invest in the server!
To all those who those who have been "banned for no reason," there are two possibilities. 1. You are a lying to us and yourself of not giving us all the information. (usually this one) 2. Because of miscommunication you have been banned on accident. Archiving. You know what do to, people said it a million times.
Banning by accident IS a reason, and you will be unbanned immediately. Edit by AppleGuyPro: Yes, I should know. I have been banned by Furyion for griefing my own island. He didn't know I was in the coop. I was unbanned 20 seconds later.
