I'm sorry, Hunterpence1021, I don't see the point you're trying to make. Could you please elaborate for me?

Thanks for clearing that up for me, iridium174. The conversion rate from in-game items to real-life currency is always a lot higher than the other way around, Hunterpence1021. This has to do with the fact that someone has to sacrifice their hard-earned dollars for virtual items, and thus, always want a high sacrifice for it. Looking at it from a purely value-based perspective, you'd be much better off paying the $10 yourself, rather than selling most everything you own in order to get there.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. It's rather a play on words on the expression "From Rags to Riches" - so I needed something that shared the same first letter as "diamonds."

Well, Diamonds aren't the most valuable thing on the server, maybe from Filth to Fireblock

NOTE: Since this article was written, a lot has changed on the Skyblock.net economy, in the settling days of the reduced grass rewards. In addition, I've had a few misconceptions when writing this, which were promptly pointed out to me by blaq and IGNSherlock amongst others, so thank you very much for that.

In light of these recent changes, I've decided to revamp the entire article, with an additional chapter for .ORG. Most of the content found in the article will still hold valid today on Skyblock.net, but please take your own observations into consideration when reading it.

    Thank you!

Practice makes perfect, supposedly! Ha, no, writing a lot is my job, so it becomes second nature to explain everything in the tiniest details. That boosts the word count quite a lot! Also, thank you very much!

Great writing should always be backed with great experience. Keep in mind also that the economy is a living beast, the problem with any guide or price list is its simply a static snapshot of one point in time. Its not uncommon for such things to include misrepresentations, out-liars, and biases. When all else fails, a price of an item will always come down to what it is worth to you, the individual.

The ones who kinda shook their heads during some parts are the ones who like myself started poor, yes we farmed, and fought in the arena but as our wealth changes so does our approach. I can say I haven't fought in the arena in months (most wealthy would agree), except for nostalgic value lol. Because the truth is we develop better suited ways to continue that wealth.

Going back to values and trade, don't forget to include out-liars and collect data and create your own price point based on what are things worth to you and make trades based on that. You will realize this is constantly changing. Due to the high volume of stuff I've bought many have came to me with "what is it worth" type of questions. My response is, "this is the collective average of what I have paid for it, and this is what I would sell it for." I wouldn't give someone a price unless I was willing to sell it for that. Learning true values of items come from simply buying and selling a lot of it. Let this be your key points in future guides. Also keep in mind price is reflected upon how difficult it is to earn or how limited it is. For instance some things can be spawned in while others simply take hard work. And somethings like stone simply hold value in bulk, while singularly don't hold value but in bulk sell for a diamond per DC.

Even if all the price points and data was correct in this guide, it still applies to novice players as we do change as we progress. And keep in mind all guides have a limited lifetime. Not only will the prices change but you'll always come back with a different approach or something new to add that reflects the change in you as a player.

I would love to see what your writing skills plus a year on the server would look like in a guide.

    Quick question-
Diamonds used to be 1 per stack of grass or somewhere near there.
And now I see them going for about 45 grass?
Was there just a drop in the economy or were there an overflow of diamonds so they are cheaper now?

Grass blocks are just worth a bit more nowadays.

Wouldn't that make the diamonds cost more then? Not less?

No. Dias have their own value that mostly don't depend on grass.
