Im sure im not the first one to suggest this but it seems like a really good idea to me. I think that skyblock.net should have world guard on islands like on .org. This would help so many people including mods, with there would be no greif complaints and this would make me and a bunch of other people happier. Thank you for reading and may this please be taken into consideration.
This has been suggested many times. It will not happen as it would cause to much lag for the server and islands would be difficult to protect.
How exactly does world protect work on org? i mean apart from org being much smaller, the plugin could be trialed on net? or has it been trialed already? the main source of lag comes from peoples own source as im aware my computer obviously causes some issues. We need some form of grief protection, as mod issues are not allowing swift responses to people who are getting griefed. The only protection is lockette, which couldnt stop me being griefed and the griefer breaking into my stables and killing my animals. The only other option is to increase the area between islands or when blocks hit the proposed 49 limit, it prevents blocks from being built so griefers cant bridge. but i think its difficult getting plugins like that because they dont exist and need to be make from scratch usually.
When the island is created on .org, it creates a worldguard region owned by the player who created the new island. In order to impliment this on .net without causing mix-ups, it would need to create a worldguard area based on the coop owner. Now, here's where it becomes an issue. Worldguard regions use memory. There are thousands of islands on .net. With the amount of memory it would need, it would generate a lot of lag, not to mention if all of the regions were added in quick succession it would crash the server pretty quick. Here's the next issue, kids have already built past their block limit. Theses sections of what is generally considered their island would then be owned by an inactive player and now the admins would need to get involved and have to decide if they're allowed to have their area extended or if its a 'too bad, so sad' kind of moment. As for your proposed this would require a lot of regions as well, going from void up to build limit and going in criss-cross all the way into infinity. This would require a lot of memory as well, and wouldn't help for islands built past their limit already, or the jumping bridge that was popular on .org for a while where you build to an island that's out to limit, and then bridge high enough to jump over to it.
If you have been griefed report it, this way we can get rid off the griefers and bridgers etc. and make skyblock a more enjoyable experience.
I know is super hard to do which really sucks. So every individual island requires setting :/ There will never be getting rid of all the bridgers and griefers. Im waiting for my griefer to make an appeal because i dont what him unbanned, his islands next to mine i wish the islands were more spread out i hate being so close to seeming abandoned islands but they actually are not
at least if new islands started becoming further apart at least we can make new islands but again, probably too hard, to much crash risk
I actually once explained a way that protection could be put into place without that significant of an impact on performance in another thread. Here it is:
That sounds do-able, but there needs to be a test for lag and crashing for new plugins. With pets back, extra plugins and more users may just tip the balance :/
