It's not a big deal if we have to smelt it and it means we can actually use ancient debris as decoration blocks if we wanted.

EDIT: And as Silvia reminded me, it would allow players to get another advancement!

I do believe that it should be changed not for the same reason but more for the achievement
But also I do think it should stay how it is as some people have 1 ancient debris and it's considered a rare item/ unobtainable because updates

As cool as illegals like that are, I do think it's a small price to pay.

 

I don't think the trader should be selling ancient debris. They already sell scraps and crates already have Ingots, there's no need for enchant debris if the reason is to smelt it. Scrap is easy enough to come by if you ask the hoarders politely for one.

However, I would support the idea of being able to mine ancient debris in the nether itself (maybe with low drop rates like glowstone) if its used for decorative blocks, and smelting is disabled. Ancient debris would be far too easily farmed by finding out the nether seed each month, farming them then smelting it would give certain players an op advantage.

 

That sounds like a hard ask as opposed to just having the WT sell ancient debris.

 

i feel like adding more to the server with custom plugins is a much bigger ask than something that would take 2 lines of code to change
also having a lowerd drop rate on something that is already a little hard to find would mean it would turn alot of people off from finding and building with it

 

I don't think trader should sell the block itself. They already sell scraps cheap enough and Ingots can be won in crates. I dont think you should be able to craft scrap from ancient debris partly for this reason. However If you want ancient debris for building and decoration blocks, then it can be a farmable one. That way every player gets a chance to find the blocks should they wish. The trader is already too limiting when it comes to selling items valued as rares, and scraps are already accesable to buy and trade.

Netherite is already too involved in the economy of both servers(and its even a reward from crates) so I very doubt they will ever change this. Ancient debris on the other hand is unobtainable( was only obtainable from an oversight from what I was told so its super hyper rare, hence some people might oppose this xD), this would only get us a new block to build with, though VERYYYYY EXPENSIVE lol. I'm so up for this, thank you space and silvia for this amazing idea

As a non-ancient debris owner, self interest tells me I should support this, but I also acknowledge that this would be terrible for the select few who have paid through the nose to get an ancient debris.

I think unless the price point were lower than the price of netherite scrap and the debris block awarded significant levels, this would be a minimally impactful change when considering the server as a whole. I would compare this to swapping guardian eggs for guardian spawners in the legendary crate; it impacted people who owned guardian eggs at the time (positively), but in the long run it did not particularly bring sweeping changes to the economy as a whole.
