  i did join almost 6 years ago and did play alot back than but did take a long break in the middle have been back playing for about a year and a half and playing religiously

  yes i few years ago i was banned for island farming and on the discord a few months ago for racist reasons too but there in the past and i have learnt from both of them

  i do but its been a few years i was moderating a friends server but also have been a system admin for a tech firm
• Why do you think you should become a staff member?
  ok ok all joke aside time for real staff app
  i think it would be good for me to be staff cos i try and be nice to everyone online and help out with new players questions and even old players retuning too
  i have leant from whenever i was banned
  
  i am usually active on discord alot even when im out i can still respond also have chatcraft pro so if needed when im not home i can still hop on and help
  
  i do hope on economy every now and again so can help on that server still dont know everything on there or even how crophoppers work but still learning for the economy side and willing to help where i can over there

  im also online more than 6 hours a day so it could be good that new and old players have someone they can reach out to when the current staff are offline as most of the time when im on i rarely see staff on

I appreciate the minimalistic approach with your application, however it doesn't speak to me about your qualities and why you would be a great staff member. The expectation of a staff application is formality. It's like applying for a job, which in this case, it sort of is (a volunteer position to be exact). I think it would be great to treat this application formally, with proper grammar/capitalization and expanding on your traits that deem you qualified for this position:

Ending this sentence with "but i donno" doesn't really assure me that you believe you're fit for this position.

Also I think you added a bit too many colours, try to incorporate colours where needed. An application doesn't necessarily need colours to be a good application, so long as you actually include valid points, your skills and qualifications (as you did by mentioning your experience with moderating a friend's server/being a system admin), and any important information that we, the reader, should know. Colours just help important information stand out.

Hope you don't take this the wrong way! I just wanted to offer my feedback should you choose to use it. But nonetheless, good luck with your application Silvia!

 

I have no qualms with you necessarily, never had negative interactions but I thought this was a joke application. The title using slang and the application being so short while being in such a joking tone is not good.

 

Yeah I have to agree. I don't know about the dc bc I don't have it but I've never had a negative interaction with you in game, but I think you should professionalize this application.

 

I think you forgot to mention you were also banned four months ago for homophobic and racist jokes on Discord.

talking about Hitler is not inherently racist. Also you might want to /visit SilviaPrincess. something to do with the colours used on that island and being called homophobic that just isn't adding up here...



Getting back to the matter at hand!


I actually think SilviaPrincess’s application is great in its own way. It might not be super formal, but it’s honest, personal, and shows who they really are—which is important for a Minecraft community.

They are clearly active, helpful, and care about the server. Even owns up to their past mistakes and shows they have learned from them, which is a good sign of growth. Plus, available often and even has the tools to moderate while away from their PC.

What really matters for staff is being approachable, committed, and willing to help—and Silvia shows all of that. The relaxed tone and colours don’t take away from the fact that they'd be a friendly and reliable person and absolute asset to have on the team.

Minecraft is a game, after all. Having staff who feel human and relatable can be just as important as formal writing. I strongly support Silvia with this application as they've helped me too many dam times to count; from little things like "does snow melt" to tricky stuff that us old people don't understand like how to navigate Discord. No one is perfect, and who the hell wants to be. Perfect is boring. The colours make this application stand out, its different, its original, its unique! and if i'm voting for a potential staff member, i want someone that is approachable and easy to get along with not someone that is around the clock formal. You can't blend in when you were born to stand out!

it isnt my application that was outsourced just clazza's response if you have no support cos of someone elses respone that tells me alot about you.

The fact that this thread has focused mostly on the content of Sylvia's application (grammar, colors) rather than in-game interactions with her is a good sign. If Sylvia was someone who created drama or behaved badly on the server, I think most people would be focused on pointing that out. I see her online almost constantly and I have never witnessed one negative interaction she was involved with.

To the contrary, every experience I've had with Sylvia is friendly and helpful. I have no doubt that she would be a great mod while in game.

I do have to agree with previous concerns about the application, however. But first I want to highlight some of the things I appreciate.

I think the tone is acceptable definitely reflects her easygoing character. The colors are a fantastic way of keeping readers engaged and show a high level of web communication skills. Same with the shorter paragraphs- this is a great way of keeping a readers attention in the era of ever shortening attention-spans. These skills would be a great addition to the mod team and the overall forums experience.

The grammar is the biggest issue. Especially in an application, I would expect to see some more formality (at least run it through a free online checker like Grammarly. They do all the correcting for you. It's incredibly easy). Though grammar may seem trivial, I think its importance cannot be understated. I'm not talking about comma splices or using slang like "dunno." That seems fine to me. I mean capitalizing the beginning of your sentences and ending them with punctuation. Simple, basic formatting.

That said, this is an easy fix to make and does not take away from the qualities that make her a great candidate for mod. I mostly talk about it only to add input to previous comments from other users, not to show any hesitation I have for her being mod.
