Recently, the Staff Team has noticed an increase in players replying to threads on our forums and we encourage all players to be an active member of our forums. However, we would like to provide some advice to help you with your replies. We encourage all players to read through this thread before replying to another. If you find a player that may have broken these guidelines, we ask that you do not report them. The Staff Team has created guidelines that apply to all sections of our forums to help you construct your replies to threads:

    Before replying, think if:
    • The content or information in your reply was already stated
    • You are providing feedback or helpful information for the thread
    • The information you wish to share is correct

    • A Staff Member has replied and is handling the thread as needed

Rethink your reply if it contains any of the following:
    • Content or information that has already been stated in the thread
    • A quote of someone else's reply without adding anything to it or the thread
    • Tagging of a Staff Member to lock a thread if you are not the thread creator
    • Incorrect information

    • Unnecessary comments [specifically in sections that add to post count]

By following these base guidelines, you are able to easily share your thoughts and ideas about any thread topic. If your reply was already stated and you wish to share your agreement, we remind you of the ratings we currently have on our forums such as the "support" and "agree" ratings. You do not need to rate every reply or statement you agree with as rate abuse does exist and punishments will be given if the rule is broken.

Below are guidelines for specific sections on our forums that we commonly view these types of replies in. We encourage all players to read through all of the guidelines below for a further understanding on the specifics of replying to threads.

Before replying in the Help section, check if:
    • A Staff Member [includes all ranks listed here] has replied and is handling the thread
    • You are providing possible solutions that have not yet been covered for the thread creator

Before replying in the Staff Applications section, check if:
    • You are providing advice for the applicant
    • You are sharing valid information to assist the applicant
    • You are providing feedback and/or criticism that will aid the applicant

    • The information in your reply must abide by the guidelines in this thread

Before replying in the Suggestions section and its sub-sections, check if:
    • You are sharing valid information to assist the thread creator that has not already been stated
    • Any concerns you may have about the suggestion have not already been stated

Do not, on any of our platforms [Server, Forums, Discord], talk over any Staff Member. By doing so, players who are in need of assistance will be confused on who to ask for help and who to listen to. We understand any players who wish to help players, but do so without talking over any of our Staff Members.

Any posts that violate these guidelines may be deleted and punishments may ensue if a Staff Member believes it breaks our Forum Rules. Any questions regarding replies or this thread can be directed to any Staff Member.

Question - It says here that:
"• A Staff Member [includes all ranks listed on the Staff Team tab] has replied and is handling the thread
    • You are providing possible solutions that have not yet been covered for the thread creator"

Although, what if a staff member is handling the thread, but you also have a possible solution? Would it be best to reply with the possible solution, just wait it out and let the staff member handle it, or to dm the staff member or the player the possible solution?

Staff Members will almost always know the solution to the thread that you are thinking of. It would be best for you to leave the thread alone and not reply. Once a Staff Member responds to the thread and is handling it, we ask that players leave it alone for the Staff Member(s) to handle.

Thank you for all taking the time to read through this thread. I’m glad that you will be able to use this as a guide for any future posts you may create. Remember that this is only a thread of advice, and we are not criticizing you on replying to threads. We understand how perspectives may vary in responses, and we do not want to discourage players from being an active member of our community. : )

Drogo understands that people wish to give thanks but several posts in a row pretty much stating the same thing kind of sums up what this original post is trying to discourage.

I completely understand what you mean and I had realized it too when they had replied. However, although it does contradict the main aspect of my thread, I’m thankful that they took the time to read it. I’ll most likely clear any further posts that do not add anything to the thread. I’d like any future replies to discuss the thread or ask any questions about it, as Dinglesplat had done.

Yeah I'm really glad you've decided to make this thread. I've seen these kind of things going around on the forums lately and truth be told, it sometimes gets on my nerves. But again thanks

Another reason we chose to create this thread was due to players accidentally post farming. Not only would some replies be repetitive in threads, but if a player continuously does them, it may lead to accidental post farming. I've been deleting any replies that are unecessary and are located in sections that add to post count. I feel a bit guilty doing this, but I'd rather delete them slowly than wait until the player is subject to post farming and must face punishments. I hope this thread can be another reminder for all players to read over our rules on forums and to always follow them.

I'm glad that you can use this thread as a guide for newcomers on our forums! The creation of this thread was long overdue and we had finally thought to make a thread explaining how we suggest replying to threads on all sections, rather than one (I had created a thread for Bugs and Exploits back in 2016 about replying to threads).
