    Grass or Diamonds?

Diamonds, You can craft them into blocks for storage, You can pay easier with them, less math when it comes to calculating, and overall its just better looking then grass

I would say grass, they are the foundation stone for all trades, not everyone wants diamonds and you can perform more intricate transactions with grass blocks.
Also grass is a stable economy, I wouldn't want to hold a lot of diamonds and then another random crash happens (the crash of 7 grass per diamond to 4 grass per diamond).

Holding grass is more secure and easier to barter.

I'm wondering why diamonds are by some players used as currency in the first place. The value of grass and diamonds independently differs extremely when comparing them. While players tend to commit 'island farming' to get more dirt and other items, grass can still 'leave' the economy by being placed for decoration, farming and passive mob spawners for example. Diamonds have non of these other well-known uses, at which point the economy would deteriorate very quickly like it's pudding eaten by brick. Grass is by far the most non-farmable currency, which also feels realistic when we're thinking about the theme of 'skyblock'.
Lastly, you talked about the difficulty of using grass over diamonds, but having a currency that's easier to use will make the server go around less in terms of laziness and what not.

Grass. Least they don't really lose value like diamonds, iron, gold, emeralds, spawners, sponges, Rabbit Food, heads, quartz. and ores.

That's all I got from the top of my head there's prob more but idk

Grass, it is easier to pay with, its useful for building islands, almost everyone has grass. It is used by most shops.

    Thats my personal opinion :D

Obviously players have their own preference, but i'm gonna say both. Grass is mostly used for common items and rares that aren't too rare. For example, you won't see someone sell a special stone for grass (usually). However, players usually sell sponges, elytras etc for grass. Most noobcrew heads sell for dias/other rares as well. The economy for diamonds is just too risky in my opinion. Let's say I sell my pink crew head for 2000 dias. This is the equivalent to about 8000 grass. The thing is, if I get these diamonds for a very rare item, that's me got 2000 diamonds in a chest instead of this item. Next thing you know the nether resets and diamonds drop down to 2 grass each. That's you practically giving away a rare item of yours, which, lets be honest the chances of getting back are pretty low. This has happened before, and will definitely happen again.

Let's say you sell a bunny head for a double chest of grass. You've let go of the 1 in 10/15 head, and now you have the DC of grass. That will never ever lose value, at least not for a while. While you may choose to convert to diamonds if players are trading diamonds for rares, thats your choice-after a diamond crash they usually stay stable for at least a few months.

I definitely think players are becoming more aware trading for diamonds isn't the best idea. However, older players, maybe donor400's or skytitans that haven't played since classic reset aren't aware of this. I've been offered 40 dias for a beacon before, and the player thought they were 20 grass each. I made the player aware of the price of diamonds, and they said that's completely ruined the economy. I do think grass trading is going to become more popular for trading high-end rares, and that diamonds are going to be worth the same of iron eventually.

The only thing I'm saying is, if the nether isn't reset, a lot of this could be avoided. Obviously, yes, dias will eventually go down in price. But resetting the nether is just asking for trouble.

So yeah, my answer is kinda both but mostly grass.

I prefer grass because if you want a bit of wood it’ll cost you 1 grass so like if you only have diamonds, you’d have to convert it into grass and then buy the wood and I think it’s just too much hassle and messing around carrying two different currencies around.

Also it helps that the price of grass doesn’t go down (sometimes up, but rarely)

Before going into inactivity again, I continuously sold my diamonds in exchange for grass or obsidian the moment I got them.

Diamonds have never had a chance to increase in value on Skyblock. It has always been a mistake to buy or hoard any.

I remember on classic I preferred diamonds because they were quite stable and were used in a lot of different trades, especially for rares and higher priced items.

Now even grass is used for trading rares so it's quite versatile and used more often. Plus I got a little good at terraforming as I played on /skyblock when it first came out, so now I'd probably say I prefer grass overall :)

The classic diamond rate has hardly changed in 3 years. It's just the nether resetting that's screwing it up.

why do you think the diamond rate is related to the nether resetting? the diamond rate dropped regularly even before we had the nether. (i may or may not have been partly to blame having had a diam price war with another shop for a few days)

    and i prefer grass.
