We have /chat local, /chat global and /chat coop, those are some really cool features but sometimes I want to talk to a certain amount of people that are working on their own island or arent in your coop. It would be pretty usefull to make a chat group that you can add players too with a maximum of like 20 players so you can chat about things in there that you might not want to interupt other peoples chat with. we could have like /chat group create _Friends_ and /chat group invite _Friends_ T0W0_L0L.

People can accept or deny the invite with
/chat group accept
/chat group deny

 

If you want to talk to a certain group people in private then you can just bring them to your island and talk to them all using /chat local. But it is slightly convenient in certain situations and will make it more unnecessary to build a meeting room if you converse with them often, I'm leaning toward neutral but I'll support.

 

Neutral I don’t see a need for this you can easily use /msg or create a discord group

 

Support this would be helpful when we are trading and a mod is helping then all players could just chat in a group chat which would be so helpful so everyone else doesn’t look at the trade.

I do agree with Monster on that because the devs don’t exactly *need* to spend their time on this and I say that I wouldn’t mind if this was added.
Although I do agree with @mr__oak but you could record, or use a trade shop instead if possibly waisting a mods time.

 

Not everyone has discord and msg only sends a message to a single person

Support, for example if you hired a bunch of people that aren't necessarily in your coop to run shops at an island and you need to message them all a command like /cgroup (insert chat group name here) (insert message here)

If you get a bunch of people into a chat group and just spam the crap out of them, not only are you abusing pms, but its to multiple people too

 

That's also possible with /cl and /cg, I dont see how this is different

 

You can abuse it with bots as it doesnt require you to go to other's islands but theoretically make a chat group and spam the crap out of it

even if that reason was the case, some certain players would think its funny to create massive groups people dont want to be apart of. Theres just so many complications to it. I see more harm than good. im rockin with a no support and thats probably not gonna change. sorry bill

 

they can just decline the invitation, and they can just leave anytime they want

 

I see. I didnt think of that. I still think its a bit excessive.
