Lets add a cooldown on people chatting, I dont know how will the cooldown work or the limit. but at least something to prevent these things. Yes, people don't want a cooldown that'd be annoying when you reply too fast. What we need is something to limit these kinds of spamming in chat, and that as long as you don't do these you won't be blocked by the chat limit. Currently I don't think we have anything against spam. Ideas > - Not being able to send the same message thrice -Something that would mainly target spam bots or players with the intention to only spam. -DOES NOT affect commands NOTE: The main idea is to add a chat limit in order to prevent people from spamming chat like the images I have displayed. The ideas I've given are only ideas to be added onto the main idea. It may or may not be added, as long as the admins prevent people from spamming chat excessively.
I believe in that screenshot is mostly caused by some hack cilent or a mod or something else from what I've heard. But mainly support it might prevent most spamming tho
When there was a cooldown added accidentally, the effects were horrible - so many complaints. If things like that happen, players can always be muted.
Wouldn't it still be better if it was automated. Just so there wouldn't be an excessive amount of spam. Like saying the same message thrice, something like that. Gamzee24 will you please state your reason why you didn't support?
No support. I type fast enough to put out two relatively short messages every second, and sometimes even three. So can BertBerry I suspect other players can do the same. Typing fast is very helpful when helping multiple players at once or selling things to multiple people at once. I do both of these things very frequently, and it'd be a massive inconvenience for me as well as others.
No support. Having a cooldown between same or similar messages would be nice except it also impacts commands which can be problematic. Honestly just hire more active staff to deal with chat issues or come down hard on the inactive ones.
No support. I was leaning towered support, but I just remember how annoying it is for someone who isn't spamming. The reason we have moderators is for this reason anyways.
Yeah, nah, no. I can definitely see why there may be use for a cooldown, or as you mentioned a little later on, how there could be some automated system that mutes/kicks spammy players - it can prevent those guys using bots or other clients from essentially destroying the chat. But, at the same time (as stated a lot already), for those who simply reply quickly and to those who need to address a lot of people in a short amount of time, it's just going to be inconvenient. With some conversations I've had in past, I can definitely see myself getting kicked unnecessarily w/ a system like this in place aha. And, generally speaking, most of the time at least, those who are maliciously spammy get dealt with relatively quickly by our current mods anyway. Tl;dr No support, I can see why you want it but it's just inconvenient and those who do cause spam are dealt with quickly anyway (most of the time, from my experience at least).
No support. Having a cooldown will cause a huge number of players to complain and potentially leave the server. We had a command cooldown for repairing and that caused a lot of heat for the developers.
Like I said, I don't know how the cool down will work, MAYBE we can add it so the player cannot send the same message thrice. Maybe the devs can work out something that wont affect commands, just messages. The thing is, mods aren't always online, in my timezone at least. Keep the ideas coming, I know how cooldowns can be problematic so we can come up with a way to limit those who message too fast like I recently added above as an idea.
examples how a chat limit can help. we can always add a plugin wherein we can stop people from spamming too much.. we dont need it to stop 3 messages at a time, maybe just to stop excessive amounts of messages.
I'm going to have to agree. post limits won't allow a lot of things that aren't intended to break the chat limit. No support.
No support I myself talk a lot on a spammy manner and although having a cool down would stop spammers but it would also effect people and what they wanna accomplish I think we need like 1 or 2 more active mods { hints BertBerry } who's on like 12 hrs a day
people have jobs and lives outside of minecraft, no one can be on the often. we need a mod online during the night
Bert was on when all those ss happened Bert actually reported them to lain I myself am on 15-17 hrs a day its possible and Bert is just about 10-15 hrs a day Bert would be perfect to help with chat

The key here is, we add a plugin wherein we don't need moderators to manage the chat, we just NEED to add something to prevent spam-bots, to manage excessive spams, not the 3 in a row spams.
Slightly irrelevant, but I do appreciate how you captured what I said earlier today when the spam fest happened after Laini left. On another note, if any anti-spam plugin were to be implemented, I would say it'd need to be something like: - If someone posts like 10+ messages within a certain (very small) timeframe - like 30 seconds max. - And, the message should be of certain length too - preferably medium/long msgs. That'd probably help in some cases, obviously not all. - It'd deal with some of the actual spammers (like bots, spam clients, etc.), - It would very likely not affect others who just talk a lot in short periods. I'm still saying no support to your initial set of ideas, yet if something like what I mentioned just above was added, I personally would be fine with that. Anyway that's just my idea, have at it ahah.
I could see the use for this, but I think it could cause more frustration for regular players than it will deter spammers. It would affect commands, so that could be very annoying if you're going back and forth between places Also, I do often type multiple messages quite close - it doesn't mean I'm spamming. E.g if I say something but spell a word wrong I'd correct it in my next chat. Stuff like that would get annoying
