Everyone has their own meaning of what modding means, especially if they become one. ...and sure, everyone can help the server out without being a mod. However, you can help it at a deeper level that any regular player cant.
I'm 15, have time for a real life job, and still am an IB student. He did come off a bit offence too, thus the rating was done. I'll be careful myself, and I don't need you reminding me to It came off as rude to me, thus I rated it that way. I don't have a problem with a 14 year old let alone any age getting mod on a server, though I made a point that why couldn't you just get a job for leadership skills instead of a minecraft server, of which you aren't even paid. I tried to discuss my point with higher ranks about how easy it is to get mod and how much more careful Cyp has to be when promoting, though he didn't want to hear any bit of it. I guess it was to actually show him? ^ I'm not sure who you are, but you definitely have great points. No, not really a guidance. What guidance does a minecraft game need? I didn't need guidance playing my first video games long before it was multiplayer online. fair enough, so this deeper level is having the commands and being more noticeable?
I would like to gen mod just so I can help new players get the hang of the server. I love being helpful.
No. You don't see what mods do because you're not one. We have commands to help people, and that's what we use them for. If we only cared about having commands, we wouldn't help out. Do you really thing we care about being more noticeable? I can't speak for the team, but I sure don't care how noticed I am. I love making friends, but being a mod isn't about how many friends or how much people adore me. Being a mod is about helping the community at a deeper level. What is that deeper level? It's not the shallow side of a person such as the one you described. It's one where we care about the people, the server, the community, and our friends. We genuinely seek to help the server. We work to get rid of the toxic people who threaten other people. We push to have better and newer things added to the server and the forums. Don't be quick to judge and assume everyone is a shallow, attention-seeking narcissist. No one on the staff team is that low. You want to call us out. You want to tell us that we're only there for attention and power. You're not a mod. You can't accuse a whole team of that. You don't see the effort we put into things. The amount of time we spend trying to make the server more fun. Next time, before you're quick to call people out and try to make them look bad, don't judge them unless you're in their shoes.
If you asked me this question on my first month when I started playing like every few days and I had to answer this 100 percent truthfully, I'd probably say for commands, power and popularity. I wouldn't abuse them by being unfair or banning people endlessly for shts and giggles, but I would be happy to receive them because I would benefit from it lmao. I'm pretty sure we all have experienced that thought when first joining a server If you asked me now, and I had to answer the same question 100 percent truthfully, I would say that I want to become a mod to make this thriving community a better place for eVeRYonE. When you are a mod, most of the time, people will go to you first whenever they need help. And I enjoy helping people and fixing problems. I even try to do it when a mod isn't on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've been a mod before on servers with higher player count than this one. I do know exactly what it's like to be mod. I still don't know why I applied and what was the point of me getting the power of those commands. I took that from what other people have said in the thread for reasons they actually did apply. So they were noticed more. Not at all. I'm asking what makes it that you do want mod. Those were my questions of example. I never accused the whole staff team of being this at all. Been in a mod's shoes before. I'm not calling out any mod and saying that they're all attention seeking narcissists or whatever you think I am. I'm more asking, what makes your possible moderation of the server unique to everyone else. Perhaps if you share her opinions answer the same questions I had for her? Understandable, what I'm trying to ask more, what makes your thriving to make the community a better place stand out and be unique? I've heard people say that's why they're applying/a mod. Is it just random? What is it?
Exactly what I'm saying. If you're thriving level for the server is exactly the same as his/hers, wouldn't there be people with more thrive to make this server better? Or is everyone's thrive equal?
I applied because back then mod status meant a sense of power and fame. Also, I just liked helping out. Now days, mod is the exact opposite. Thanks Cyp
Just because you've been mod on another server doesn't mean you understand what mods here go through. Everything is different for each server. This server is full of people who complain, critique, report, threaten, DdoS, Dox, etc, mods over small things. You'd only understand if you're either a mod right now or used to be one recently.
There is no reason for being a 'mod' without the rank, the main problem is chat and scamming, in which still needs to be reported to a mod.
Interesting point. Yes each server is different I'll give you that. I haven't been a mod here, so I don't know all that they have to go through. Exactly what I'm worried about when you bring up those kinds of threats. I don't feel like it's explained how dangerous it is to deal these, and people are only thinking all they do is help.
Cheesy XD, not everyone is you, that's all I have to say. Maybe you ought to consider that different people have different lifestyles. Not every 14-15 year old can handle a real life jobs. I just stated that fact in defense of the victim.
You came off that all 14 year olds can't have a job because of school. How can that give them time to moderate a server? And just letting you know, there's never a victim and a well bully, hurter, etc here. It's a civil argument thread in the discussion part of the forums, to discuss this and not make victims or say someone is a victim.
All people really need to know is that mods are there to help. No one really needs to know that the people who are trying to help them are also under attack from others. Mods focus on helping you rather than helping themselves. The good mods don't crumble under pressure, give up when threatened nor do they resign when they are attacked. Take Krissy for example. She's one kick butt mod tbh. She's been here a real long time and has had to deal with things like this for majority of her duration here.
Good question. I think a lot of mods should be asked the same question; not because they are doing a bad job, which they aren't, but to really think about what changes should be made on the server and what goals they should set for themselves. I plan on making a moderator application in the future but if you are asking ME that question. I would probably ask and see what all the others moderator expectations are and what they are doing and try to do a little more extra. I will further elaborate into that if you want me to, but skyblock is the only reason why I play Minecraft. Of course I have a drive to help people if it's gonna benefit the server in the long term. Happier and fairer players = happy and fairer server. Simple as that
