Comedy is subjective. You can laugh about 9/11 jokes if you want, nobody can tell you what is funny and what isn't. Ex: Many people find people doing idiotic stunts and hurting themselves funny, however I do not.
Sure, it's not as devastating as a lot of other things, but it's the worst terrorist attack committed on American soil and in the Western world. Surely that does not deserve our consideration and respect, according to your logic. Also, so you're saying jokes of small, minimal thousands should not be taken seriously, even though many families lost loved ones and friends. Because some(keyword, SOME) millennials are ignorant as f*** of their history, that's why. And so you're saying people want devastation and murder to last forever? Are you talking about jihadis, or 'normal' people?
Finally someone who knows what I was trying to say Same here but keep in mind that it is a bad thing that happened in history and is mostly bad
Does jokingly saying KYS to people or calling them pedos mean that the people saying them have no respect for people who have lost someone to suicide or those who have been sexually abused?
Even though it was such a horrible event, whether it is okay or not depends on who it is coming from, for me at least. For example, a good friend of mine lost his uncle (who was a firefighter) in the event. The only way he can bring himself to get through the day is to make humor to lighten his spirit. Yes, this isn't the case for everyone, but if I am aware of the relationship to the event for certain people, I can tolerate it. Though if it is out of plain disrespect, I find it inappropriate.
I researched that people involved in 9/11 like families would use 9/11 jokes to help them emotionally and mentally. However people who WERE not part of 9/11 yes it is stupid and disrespectful.
My mother was in it (she got out of it, she's fine, unhurt surprisingly), and I don't make jokes to cope with it. It's done and over with, I just make jokes because, hell man, they're funny af when used right.
I don't think it's funny at all. People lost their friends, family members and loved ones on that day. Its just sad to see people making fun of this event that happen 16 years ago.
Some of the most inappropriate things make the best jokes. Depends on the audience you're telling it to and how well you know them. Hell, who even knows how many people I've offended over the years, rip.
It doesn't matter if these jokes are bad or good, we can all agree that 9/11 was a horrible thing in history, and the fact that it was just plane wrong.
they're very insensitive. to reference a point someone made earlier - when something happened has no impact on the tragedy. generally, it's just in bad taste, regardless of intention. it's like a transphobic (or any sort of that like racism, homophobia and the like) joke. it might be clever but it still hurts people and it's morally wrong.
