Js for the people calling for demotion over a 3 day ban, thats bit unreasonable.

Anyway, the rating system is in place so you can state your opinion without actually having to post. In the past you were never told what you can or cant rate. Its an opinion and the staff team cant take that away from you (keeping rating abuse aside). Everyone is entitled to rate whatever they want because after all, its just a rating and it wont affect anybody. If the rating was such a problem, why couldnt you have removed it and moved on. Mods do have the power to do that, but to warn and punish people over a rule that doesnt even exist is intolerable.

Cba to quote but Krissy saying 'I was gonna but now im not going to' is so lame. Just stop you have no valid point.

Idk why the staff team has such trouble with admitting to mistakes and moving forward. Just admit that youre wrong without people needing to bring up cyp even though he never does anything.

 

I agree, situations like these should be take as an opportunity to better oneself

 

To summarise/clarify:
Hoecobo you were never banned for rating the post negatively. From your posts above its clear that you and your supporters are claiming that you were banned for this. I can confirm that Krissy banned you; I can only summise the reason for this, but it's likely to do with your attitude towards the staff, in particular the staff report that you made which broke several rules.

Let's not get off topic here. This thread is in the discussions section and it's to discuss whether or not ratings count as gavedigging, please try to keep it such. If you have any questions about your ban or unhappiness about the way your rating was deleted feel free to send us a PM or make a report.

To make it clear: the basis of my decision is that the rules allows for "elicited responses" to be counted towards the definition of gravedigging. Quite frankly, it's common sense that rating is an extension to posting, as is editing, and that making any artificial distinction between them is simply an attempt to exploit a loophole to elicit a response from an old and otherwise inaccessible thread without incurring a penalty.

 

Clearly its not common sense considering there are 7 pages of people who disagree with you. Hell, clearly its not common sense considering 2 smods on this very thread disagree with you. Rating had never been an extension to posting and if it is, its minor enough that a warning isnt even warranted.

Joe's ban is as much a part of the discussion as is the question regarding whether or not rating is gravedigging. Its our example of the 'rule' in use.

Does anybody have the staff report? Id like to see the extent of his rudeness.

 

It shouldn't be counted as gravedigging, because you're not posting there and bumping it.

 

I'd like to know the rules that the staff report broke and see evidence to back your statement.

Actually it's 7 pages of a few vocal people chanting the same mantra without even looking at the actual conversation. Case in point:

I've stated multiple times that Hoecobo was never banned for the rating. I'm not sure how to put it more clearly to you or his supporters. He was issued a warning, but no actual ban was implemented. There's a difference. The former is just an expedient way of mods contacting a player to say "we'd prefer if you didn't do this, please don't do it again". The later is "You've done something wrong, and thus will be punished for it".

1) He didn't follow the format and process stipulated for making a staff report
2) The actual content of the staff report was deemed to be something that was not reportable, and given the clear warnings associated with abusing the reporting process, he was in clear violation of the forum rules.

Regardless, even after this, Hoecobo was still not banned for his forum report (although he could righly have been). He continued to argue with staff members via PMs, and that was when the ban was applied, for general harassment and rudeness of staff members (also taken into consideration is his history and recalcitrant past). If however, you wish to discuss the staff report feel free to send me a PM with Hoecobo included in it.

From now on, as I mentioned earlier, posts NOT related to the topic of the discussion will be summarily deleted. You've been warned before, and this is the second warning.

 

Are you saying that arguing isn't accepted on the server? As long as he's not calling the staff "you fgts go kys" or something like you'd find in game, I wouldn't count it as harassment if they are arguing though I have to admit I never did see what went on in PM.

If arguing with others is not accepted perhaps remove the whole discussion sub forum because that's basically what it's about.

As well, isn't it Hoecobo's choice what's OT and what's not? Technically as long as he's fine with it can't we say whatever we want? It's his thread after all.

I hope through this I do not come off in a rude way, just a discussive way as this thread is said to be.

 

Arguing in the form of discussion is welcome - however the point of this thread is to discuss ratings as a form of gravedigging, not to be used as a pseudo ban appeal/staff report for Hoecobo
