No one seems to be able to tell me an explanation for this so I guess I'll post about it here...
Nearly everytime I've logged onto ANY server in the past week/ week and a half I've been getting kicked for "Too Many Packets" and it takes a good 3-6 tries to get on any server. So if anyone knows anything about this please speak up?

    It could be because of:
    -texture packs
    -Mods
    -Optifine
    -Hacks
    -Shaders

I doubt it has anything to do with those. I literally deleted everything out of minecraft except my screenshots, and that did nothing. Is it maybe possible that it installed malware on the computer?

If there are too many packets, that would mean that too much information from your computer is being sent to the server. It could be malware
    It could be your isp

Actually, I doubt it's malware. I connected to minechat, and I still had the same issue.

Although malware can send abnormal packets, I'm thinking its the router

are you using a hacked client? if you have certain mods on in a client, that will send too many packets.

It might be the router. I tried it on my MacBook, and it had the same issue. I never downloaded anything suspicious on my laptop.

    I got it to work.

Basically, go to your router settings and allow Minecraft to bypass the firewall. I'm assuming that when the server got DDoS'd that one day, the wifi automatically thought it was being DDoS'd, so it blocked the game. I allowed it to pass the firewall, and now it works. It might be different according to your ISP (Internet Service Provider), but the idea should be the same. Just look up on Google "port forwarding on [your router]"

The protocol should be "TCP," the port range should be "25565 to 25565," and the application type is "PPTP virtual private network server."

    Apparently, it stopped working...

This has been happening to me as well. It says to me "Too many packets" I keep thinking it's trying to say Too many items. -sigh-

If you use Regen or NoSlowDown you will get the message, if not you will be fine. I had the same problem but not anymore.
