I'm asking for help here because nobody knows what my issue is. Whenever I play minecraft, my ping goes up to 1500ms, making it impossible for me to play without timing out 30 seconds to one minute. It only started yesterday, and it's been fine for the past 12 months. I play other games with no lag, and it's only minecraft that has this issue. My desktop is hardwired to my router with a typical speed of 15mbps and a ping of 20 ms. I tested it using ookla speedtest today. At this point, it's all of minecraft servers; it's not only skyblock. It's really frustrating me, and I have no clue what I can do to fix it. I'm not getting new wifi either. Please read all of this before responding. Any helpful information is appreciated.
damn well um go in spotlight and search terminal then type: ping 8.8.8.8 then enter/return then upload a screenshot of that please
Hello Lemonade I had this same issue and there are some ways to fix it. 1. You can restart your router a couple times and mess around with that. 2. You can try to re-install minecraft and see if that helps. 3. Watch this video, (helped for me) 4. You can just mess around with options and things.
I restarted my router, I reinstalled MC, and I didn't bother with settings because it'd be hard to on a mac I'll do the ping thing. EDIT: Without MC and doing the 8.8.8.8 thing, the ping was roughly 37. With MC, it was the exact same. Only when I do /ping in-game is it high
Oh, I am a Windows player so I do not know that much about Mac's, I will still try my best to help though.
I'm pinging my computer to skyblock, and it looks fine to me. How do I even ping to a minecraft server though? I think the terminal thought I was pinging a website instead. I made a traceroute txt document
Try checking if you have anything that is using up bandwidth or internet on your pc. Things like file sharing etc. Make sure you are not streaming anything while on mc. When I had horrible ping I would often exit out of everything that used the internet and it would work.
When I saw this thread, I thought it was because of my Status where I couldn't spell Mbps. But, yeah, like Krissy said: don't have too many windows open - that include internet access - it will just make the ping for mine craft even slower. It works for me, as a Mac user. Best of luck Lemonade!
you could go here: 10 Quick Ways to Speed Up a Slow Mac im not i mac user but this might help anyway.
he said he is using ethernet, not wifi. his computer might not have a wireless adapter. and also, not everyone has unlimited data.
I force quit everything other than google chrome. Still nothing My mac is perfectly fast enough, but the wifi isn't The server doesn't just switch locations in a matter of two days, though. Right? My computer originally used wifi, but I switched to Ethernet because more stability. I do have unlimited data, but no hotspot x.x
