As of MC 1.9.3 r2, Mojang will block Skyblock & other server from contacting their session server. ULTRA LATE UPDATE: Seems like the blacklisting system in 1.9.3 r3 was removed for unknown reasons.
No idea what all that means so.... Could someone please explain that all in Dumb Talk so I can understand it? Thanks.
When you join any online (premium) servers, the server you are connecting to will contact Mojang's session server to check if your account is legit and logged in or not. If mojang block the validating request, the server you are connecting to can't validate your username (it thinks that mojang's server are down) therefore the server will reject your connection.
According to the EULA (Mojang's terms of service) a minecraft server cannot sell in-game features or items that give players a direct advantage over non-donors, meaning that selling kits or in-game items is against the EULA. Sadly Skyblock breaks the EULA (like 90% of all MC-Servers), as a server owner is supposed to only sell perks such as the ability to use coloured chat, have a [Donor] in front of your name, use /tpa, etc, but not kits or diamonds etc. that's why Mojang is blocking yes servers.
Not necessarily. Mojang blocks servers they find breaking the EULA. They check servers' shops an if they see that that server is breaking it they block it. If they don't know about Skyblock... Let's hope so, I guess
*cough* nothing is being sold its a donation, of your own free will. if youd like, contact cyp when you donate and let him know you dont want the perks. would you/did you donate just because? probably not. would this server still be up if there were no incentives? probably not.
Let's talk server monetisation - the follow-up Q+A Go complain at Mojang if you want. The fact: Skyblock is against the EULA.
We all can't spend money on servers though. I say just open a server with no donor ranks, a shop, and the basics. It'd be a ton of fun with everyone having the same gameplay
