How do I start this.. The prices of bone meal were changed. The price was dropped to less than half it's original worth. From 18 for 20$ to 18 for 8$. With no warning, people lost tons of money. People who had chest shops buying bones from players for a decent price before this change were bombarded with people quickly selling to them while offline. What was the goal here? Because some people were becoming too rich? Most of the rich were rich cause their only goal was to reach the top of Baltop, just like other players goals were to have the best island. If you look at a few of the richest players on the server.. Frank - Dedicated many hours towards grinding bones to become the richest. Krissy - Half of her balance was given to her from a quitting player. NekoEmmi - Hasn't sold, or grinded a single bone the entire time she's played. Cooper - Sold a NoobCrew head for 1.8m Because people afk'd at grinders and it caused lag? So everyone else has to suffer for this? Not that this change is going to fix this issue anyway. People are still going to afk at grinders and lag the server. Decreasing the price is just going to cause people to afk more, some people are lazy simple as that. And if they can afk to make money, it doesn't matter how little the price is, they will. As an active mod, I know most the OP grinders the server had. If the TPS dropped I quickly teleported to these grinders, ( which mind you had kill switches, lava, and some had anti-lag designs ) to deal with the player. So in my opinion whats going to happen now? Since only the price of bonemeal was effected, and the prices of blocks didn't decrease as well, this is how I see this going down. People will start to rely on farming and shops. Block prices will skyrocket. If /warp market sells stone for 250 a stack? People will now start selling them for 200 a stack ( currently sell at player shops for around 40-60 a stack. ) We also have no hoppers due to the dupping issue I'm sure everyone's aware of. Now, I'm not saying I disagree with this action. I disagree with how drastically the price was dropped. I disagree that there was no warning. And I hate the fact that I've already seen many players, even donors, quit over this already. What's everyone's opinion on this change?
Maybe less money will become the way, a price drop here and there in the shop. Or perhaps this is a test and we shall see how this works.
Damn. Just bought a ton of bones for a insane price.. didn't even know there was a change. Rude. Lost about 70k in that deal now. Thanks a lot Cyp.
Most likely, people with spawners will start farming creepers or cut their losses and switch to netherwart or pumpkin farms again. As for block prices going up, I doubt it. If people start relying on shops, as you said, then shops will have to compete with other shops to have low prices. (Especially now that people will be making less money and have less to spend) If anything, they will go down once the Econ stabilizes after this (I give it like 2 weeks) Definitely disagree with how it was done. I think the best way to have a balanced economy without completely removing Pistons and spawners is to tweak the prices, ever so slightly so that the time/reward for each farmable item is about the same. I.E.: skeletons are popular? Reduce the price of bones/bonemeal (slightly) until you see people trying different methods (netherwart or pumps) When those 3 are all relatively equal in profit to time, reduce the 3 of them until you see tree farms becoming equal. Keep slightly tweaking until everything is equally profitable. And then, people would only farm the things that they enjoy farming. Server would be better. Also most of the people who quit will likely be back in 1-2 weeks. A month for some persistent people. (Granted, any of them who read this post will be gone twice as long as I predict because they'll want to prove me wrong)
I agree with the nerf fully and players have no one to blame but themselves for this. Why? Think about it. A while ago people were grinding skeletons nice and steady but started to afk grind. I asked cyp if afk grinding could be illegal and he agreed. This was to make it more fair. Then a certain unnamed player decided to perfect a grinder that produced an insane amount of skeletons and caused a lot of lag not just pc lag, but considerable server lag. His design soon spread when people wanted more money and fast with less effort and an optimal, quick spawn rate. People starting using it so much that even a minute of being AFK could cause the server tps to drop so much everyone lagged. More of these grinders appeared and even were made public and the situation became bad. I expressed my concern to Cyp and he attempted to reduce the spawn rate of mobs so the server could handle this increase. But it never worked. People tried to make ways to stop this lag but it still never worked. So now the only option was to get rid of the motivation for this lag by getting rid of the cause. People cared so much about fast money that they didnt stop to consider the health of the server that is hosting them, nor did they consider the other players who just wanted to enjoy the server without so much lag. It was very selfish. I told several people that this was getting out of hand and now look. This is what happens. While this is harsh everyone needs to quit complaining and move on. There are other ways to make money. While it isn't as fast it will do. It is all in your heads that prices will increase on other goods because you are so used to fast money that now you will raise prices to make money faster when in truth the only thing affected is the price of spawners most likely. They will drop most likely. Keeping the cost the same on everything, a bit of hard work and you will end up as rich as Neko has, without skeletons. Cyp did the right thing to nerf the cost. And in the end it was the players greed that ruined bonemeal prices and nothing else.
It is unfortunate that the price was dropped so fast and without warning, however, its not the end of the world. Theres plenty of other ways to make money. Yes, it may take more time and effort, but I think its a good switch of pace for org. Now instead of just bones, theres other options to make a good amount of money. It all depends on if youre willing to put the time, effort, and creativity into it.
