What happens when your Appendix bursts?

I know, you're thinking "What is an appendix?". Your appendix is located at the beginning of your large intestine or cecum. The appendix is a worm shaped pouch that has no known function. When the appendix becomes deceased, if left untreated, it will rupture and cause a potentially fatal infection.

When the appendix bursts, it is because you have not got treated in time for appendicitis. Most develop appendicitis while in their children and young adult years. 1/15 people get appendicitis in their life. The ages for males to get it the highest is 10-14 and among females is 15-19. More males tend to get appendicitis during their puberty years than females. Appendicitis is rarely ever seen in children under the age of 2 and the elderly.

The most way to notice if you have appendicitis is severe abdominal pain or pain in the stomach. The thing is abdominal pain is located in a wide variety of other illnesses and infections so how can you tell if you really have appendicitis in time? Well, most of the conditions of appendicitis lie within women. If women have appendicitis, they will have severe abdominal pain, pelvic inflammatory disease*, and ruptured ovarian follicles*. There are symptoms for both the sex and those consist of: Abdominal Pain, Coughing, Abdomen becomes tender to touch, loss of appetite, Nausea/vomiting, constipation/diarrhea, and temperature may rise. If any of these symptoms occur, go to the emergency room immediately. If you do not get treatment to appendicitis as soon as possible, the appendix will rupture and the consequences are deadly.

When the appendix ruptures, the infected contents spill out into the abdomen causing a serious infection called peritonitis*. If you can get to the doctors before the appendix ruptures, the treatment for appendicitis is an appendectomy which consists of surgery to remove the appendix.

    *
-PID(Pelvic Inflammatory Disease): *FEMALES ONLY* An infection for a woman's reproductive system. (Mostly found if the woman has an STD.)
-Ruptured Ovarian Cyst: *FEMALES ONLY* The burst of a cyst that comes with the price of your menstrual cycle. It causes slight pain.
-Peritonitis: Inflammation of the membranes that line the abdominal pelvic wall.

Thanks for reading What Happens When...

Oi, I shiver everytime I hear about this. My mom's appendix nearly bursted a few years back. According to her, it was more painful than childbirth. ._.
