Accepted [stupidOP] Island Farming [Sakura]

Greetings! Welcome to my appeal! Please make sure to read this whole document, for I have put a lot of thought and heart and soul into writing this and I sincerely mean every word of it; thank you. My username is stupidOP. You may have heard of me because I am a very avid player, and I am known for being quite friendly and nice to everybody around the server. I am writing this appeal today because I have been banned from skyblock for precisely 31 days. The reason I have been banned from skyblock for this many days is because I island farmed. You may be saying to yourself: “Wow you island farmed, didn’t you read the rules?” No, I admit I did in fact not read the rules. But there are a few things you should know before you jump to conclusions. Firstly, I was new to the server; I didn’t even consider reading the rules, and quite frankly I was just naive to everything in entirety, including everybody on the server, rules, and how things are even done on skyblock anymore. I am now fully aware (I have now read the rules) that I should in fact not island farm. And I now know everything not to do! However, I am still very sorry for not reading the rules sooner. I assure you I will NEVER island farm ever again, and I will abide by all of the rest of the rules. And if I see anybody breaking any rules I will report them to the forums, as I have done in the past. I really care about the community as a whole and I am deeply committed to the community as well. I value the community and so many people in it. Once again, I am so deeply and genuinely sorry for what I have done, and I am more than willing to get rid of everything that I have obtained through these awful actions that I commited.

Since you've included all of the info the format asks for, I'll go ahead and not ask you to reformat, haha. But thank you for writing such a nice and thoughtful appeal.

Now to start off, I know you are relatively new to the community, rejoining a few months ago. However, that shouldn't be an excuse for not knowing the rules. As a player coming back from a long hiatus, it is your responsibility to know the rules to make sure you know the rules so you don't get into predicaments like this one. The fact that you island farmed, and rather excessively too, was extremely surprising to me. The dates that this all occurred were 6/22,7/1, and most recently, 7/22. That's a pretty long time to have not read the rules, or seen anywhere in chat what island farming is and how it's illegal. Normally, I see someone commenting on it at least once daily. On top of all that, you used 4 separate accounts to farm a total of 1,144 dirt, 50 sand, and 16 lava buckets.

Before we continue on with the appeal, I have a few questions I'd like you to answer:

• What made you wait so long to look at the rules?
• Had you never seen in chat that island farming was not ok? If you didn't know island farming was illegal, why did you go through the trouble of using 4 separate accounts to farm resources?
• Last but not least, if you felt bad for island farming, why did you never come to any of us to explain what happened, rather than keeping all of the farmed good and keeping quiet about the whole thing?

 

To be completely honest with you, that is all I give and all I want back; honesty. I have been playing Minecraft since 2011 and I'd say I never looked at server rules before on any server, it's a bad habit. I think this server might be one of the first server rule's I have looked at. I don't know if it was just a bad coincidence that I did not see any mentions of it, but I eventually did, and that is why I did stop. I have roughly 200 alternate accounts. I believe the reason for going on separate accounts was because I was voting for them and doing that at the same time. Lastly, I would like to say I am very close with Michael, we are very good friends and I was urged to tell him but I thought to myself "I have no idea what would happen if I told him, would I just get banned?" I wanted to tell him but I had no idea what to do with the situation. So that made me feel even worse as well.

 

I must agree, that is a terribly bad habit ;P As for not telling anyone anything about it, for future reference, if something happens never feel bad about telling any one of us about something that happened! It's much better than saying nothing and trying to forget about it, because when it comes up like this, it doesn't look very good..

So, since you have a bad habit of not reading the rules, lets go ahead and do that! I'd like you to read through the in-depth rules in it's entirety. Once you've done that, I'd like you to tell me in your own words why island farming is bad and how it can negatively impact other players.

 

Hello, Sakura. I have extensively read every word of the rules, and I now know the rules for both the server and the forums. Island farming is bad because it promotes dirt trade, bucket trade, and sand trade that is why the rule was made in the first place. It is an unfair advantage to yourself, so it is selfish in that way. It should not be done by anybody because we are all supposed to have the same advantages and disadvantages.

 

Wonderful. Well, since this is your first offense and all of the materials have already been removed, I'll shorten your ban to just the weekend- You will be unbanned this time on Monday. I expect that if you have any problems or questions about the rules, that you either reference the rules again or just contact any of us. I don't want to see you in this section of the forums again, alright?
