See, this isn't a suggestion. Just a topic of discussion I wish for you all to comment on. I'm not even positive if Cyp/Crew has these saves anyway. So here- On org, the yesterday, a topic of discussion about old times was brought up, and about how all of the cool things that we had were pretty much decimated thanks to the reset, basically killing all of our hard work. Then someone suggested that maybe Cyp could release the old saves for download on forums, just so that we could play the map for all it was worth, and so we could continue on our journey of hotness. I guess. Just a thought, though, why not release the saves now? They could do no harm, that I can tell, and it'd be nice to see our old islands again.
I'm a post-reset player, yet I can imagine, for what I have built until now, how hard it could be to see all this deleted in a blink of an eye. I would as well beg for a souvenir to be handed over, at least. Im memoriam "my old island".
If they exist, it would be a fairly large download given all islands were in the same world. Not as large as nets but decent.
^ and unless you had the coordinates of where your island was, you probably won't be able to locate it.
I guess everyone knows approximately where his island is located. If not precisely, it's a matter of flying through 1000 square blocks max to find it. OMG didn't think of that this is so true.
Even if you did put it in a zip file or made the file as small as you could it would still probably be several Gbs loading up a world that large on single player would crash most computers unless you have a beast pc.
And now for my, ahem, Rant of Massive Replies! (RMR for short. Teehee.) Moonlight, every world that is made makes a "save" file within, well, the path for Windows is C:\Users\<Your name\%AppData%\Roaming\.minecraft\saves, and that save file contains all data of the world. Downloading a save file, and adding it to your Saves folder will add that world into your worlds list for singleplayer, or multiplayer, though that process is different. This is a fair point, though a reasonable counter to this that makes sense, generally, would be this: Of course, you can compress it and put it in a zip file to make it's size smaller for a simpler and quicker download. My thought for this is this though: Make the file downloadable as a torrent file, so that people can use an application such as BitTorrent (What I use) to download it from a separate site. Torrent downloaders generally take up very little amounts of your CPU, and definitely not as much as a web browser. Plus, it's a decently fast download as well, though it can be longer than downloading it directly. Lots of these people liked to screenshot their builds, and sometimes you leave f3 on, so that might work. Also, flying around and seeing all of the other cool islands is a bonus too, in my opinion. Eh, not true. My PC is flat out garbage, and I can load decently large maps fully. Plus, again, to quote Frederic, Though, all of these are very valid reasons, and basically why I didn't put this in suggestions.
If it's not for my own Island, since I had none in the previous world, it would at least be excellent to satisfy my curiosity to fly through this world, visiting the former islands of thousands of player, reaching places noone except them has seen before. Wait, actually, IMHO, even the current world should be downloadable for single player. This would be so.... awesome! Since there is no link between island coordinates and player name, the anonymity of the islands is preserved.
