[.ORG] Animal despawning?

I was just wondering if animals despawn on .org because I wanted to dye a sheep blue and have a blue wool farm, but I don't want to waste a lapis on a sheep that will just despawn when I leave my island or log out...

And also, if animals do despawn, does naming them with a nametag prevent them from despawning?

 

I think they do despawn ≈100 animals an island due to preventing lag, but I've seen some named animals despawn.

 

Do you mean that if I only have 1 or 2 on my island they won't despawn, or all animals will despawn?

 

If you have 1-2 animals, there should be no issue whatsoever for animals despawning. I have about 45 mobs at one time on my island and they don't despawn.
