So whats the latest? its been gone for a while but it really needs to come back. Im SURE someone has mentioned this before but what happened? can anyone explain?
I'm not sure if we need it as it can lead to confusion amongst the newcomers and if you want to talk in private there's always the /m [player] command. No support, but not a bad suggestion.
How about when its enabled you get an alert every 5 minutes or so letting you know that its on and how to remove it. Really, it would be a better way to communicate with groups easier. Also, if we could speak freely on there if you know what I mean that would be cool too.
/chat works unless it was removed... You could still see messages from global, but global can't see your messages.
Just go on org for /chat This has been suggested before, but I doubt it will happen, as it's just more chats for mods to moderate. No support.
Not necessarily. Why would any mod have to moderate a local chat. Just let a group of friends be themselves...speaking freely. Like.. come on. No one else except a group of friends are talking to each other. Also it wouldn't extra people, so it isn't MORE chats. They would be separated if anything, but even then, when mods see all the conversation, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference on the screen. Perhaps a "[L:]" would be as a prefix so mods know that is private so.
Its really bothering to /msg 4-5 people at a time, and remember what you say to each one of them. Why not remove the "/msg playername" x5 and just do "/chat" and speak easily with friends.
Oh! I completely overlooked the group aspect of Local Chat. Many apologies, yes I support the return of Local Chat
The only issue is that net having local and global would mean mods needing to see them for advertising etc, and although it doesn't increase the speed of our chat anymore than putting social spy on, it still adds another chat we have to look over. Local also works at spawn, so chat rules will still have to apply in local, even with mates. It would be just like old org
That is true, but that is only one possible con. A majority of people using the option wouldn't turn it on at spawn. Even better, it would be very possible for the plugin to have the option for it to only be enabled in the region of your own island or trusted islands.
I never really used /local, but if it were to return it must not be the default for newcommers since that caused major confusion
