One of things that has always bothered me with the original skyblocks is what to do with the original bedrock layer. Everyone kind of knows that if you don't have one on your map it is pretty much broken as then you can easily spawn to death. However when it is there its a bit of an ugly tile to work with, there is not really a good tile that goes with it. The other problem is most players when setting up the cobblestone generator don't know where that said tile is and that can lead to repeated deaths by lava leading the player to have to restart the map if there is ton of lag or not bother coming to other players islands to visit. I been thinking about this problem for a while and I think I might have a solution to this problem. What if we removed that tile from the island entirely and created a landing platform from it? The player would spawn on this special platform made mostly from cobblestone but with a small link to the island through a single line bridge or no bridge if the player prefers. The advantage the player no longer dies due to the lava and bedrock not being on the same location, two the ugly tile is used in a more useful manner, three the player now has an additional island that they can pretty up. Four the island can now have one extra dirt tile that it couldn't have before. I have attached an example of what a potential landing platform could look like. Its a bit small with a bit of room plus a little extra protection to prevent the player from falling off to the left or right by the use of wooden fences. I am still kind of working on perfecting it. Though you could still have an option to have the old method without the landing platform or the new version with it for original skyblocks and new skyblocks. So what do you guys think? Like I say I am still kind of new so I don't really know everything. Its kind of a nice to have feature.
