one of the best ways of cutting lag is to have all the video settings set on fastest then you computer dues not have to send and receive so much info from the sever.
You can also hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete to open Task Manager, from there end processes like <programname>Update or jushed (Java Update) but be careful what you do end, like ending explorer.exe will take away your task bar and desktop.
