This is what I chose to do. It's easy and I enjoy it. I've already dedicated myself to this community.
And who said I wasn't a volunteer? As a matter of fact I am.

They might do that. You never know. As I said they don't spend all their time playing MC. I go serve at church every Sunday and chat and help the elderly :)

Your help is not valuable at all, it is just an algorithm of actions, commands served with respect sauce. People here most likely will never remember you, you'll just fade in their memories as a part of gaming activity. If you want to actually help people, go outside, buy a bread and give it to the homeless. That help is more valuable than the help you'll ever attend any amount of players on Minecraft server.

I see your point here, That's why I do community service as well as applying for moderator. However unlike me some people might want to help but they might not have access to rides to places where they can help out in real life, so their laptop is their only way to help people for a amount of time.

Yeah, that's true to some extent. That doesn't mean you can't do both, though.

    How I think:

If my GPA or social life are going to be compromised, then it is not worth it.

Yeah, the only problem is that the help in-game is not help at all, basically moderators are players' slaves and servants, trained to solve their problems.

Moderating server sure won't compromise the GPA or social life. You have to solve your problems yourself, not hope for the magic man in the sky to fix everything.

How are they players slaves when they punish players? Yeah, they help, but the also respond to behavioural issues and in force the rules.

    "Slaves" that signed up.
I enjoy this, and there's nothing that can change my mind from helping others in this server. Yes, I do community service, but I enjoy this as well.

So are you saying that applying for moderator is a complete waste of time, and doesn't help at all? It's more so people's opinions, whether or not they believe applying for moderator is a waste of time or not.
People can multitask. They can focus on their GPA, social life, and moderate a server within a day.

Who said that slaves cannot riot against their owners?

History shows slaves were punished when disobeying their owners.

Nah, they can't. Gaming is like drugs: once you tried them, you get really addicted. And GPA and social life is like sport and you can't combine drugs and sport. Won't lead to anything good.

I maintained a 4.0 GPA while mini-modding, and also kept a healthy social life. So, from past experience, I can say that that's possible.

Once you learn about Jacquerie, you'll understand that sometimes you can't control everyone.

I know you can't controll everyone but you can enforce the rules to the best of your ability. No one's perfect.

Not for everyone though. Some people are not addictive at all and someone are highly addictive. Everyone are different.

I'd say no, the only real reason people apply for mod is for a higher rep/being more popular and/or a free donor rank.

Everyone is different, but you claiming this following statement states otherwise:
You refer to they as everybody - or, at least, that is how it is interpreted. If you can't multitask, help, or are not willing to be one, don't apply for moderator. Simple as that.

If you balance your schedule, most people can maintain grades, socal life, and minecraft. I've been taught to keep a schedule which lead to 7th year high honors and I was able to moderate various servers in the past-present, with community service.
