Plot isn't mine, belongs to older username?

I have recently changed my username from this stupid name my mom put (fahmida81) to Bonnie_BonBon
I have tried to access my plot with certain features but it still says the plot isn't mine.
I can still edit and create things but still.. I've tried to dispose the plot and claim it but to no avail.
I've also seen other people with this issue so I'm just curious to know if this can be fixed and if this issue already was fixed to please let me know. My minecraft has been odd as of late anyways so it could possibly be that :s

Haha, it's fine. I'll tag a moderator, so they can tp to your island and set /homes for now.

You don't need a moderator to set /homes. All you need to do is get a bed, sleep and type /homes. Immediately get out of your bed. Type /homes. You should be next to your bed.

Edit: You will need a mod if you have privated chests. They will break them for you.
