I'm scared; what can someone do if they know my IP?

i went on a server and started advertising org (idek why xD) and someone said in public chat 'DanGaEb your IP is [my ip]' What can people do if they know my IP?

 

Isp dox you. Depending on your Isp they can also get a lot of onfo about your family, and you. IP is the Key.

 

Nine times out of ten, people will get your IP to freak you out but not do anything else, considering it's illegal and most people don't get that bent out of shape over a minecraft server. I've had many many people find out my IP, the worst that's ever happened is someone subscribed my e-mail I use for minecraft to the Victoria's Secret newsletter.

 

Haha, don't worry...if someone said something like: 'DanGaEb your IP is blah blah blah', they're probably using the Minecraft system or another website/program to find your dynamic (IP that changes :3 Just like how it called~) or cover (A mask IP for your real IP) IP. Yes, people can still do some things like finding your approximate location or searching up general information such as your ISP with those IP addresses, but other than that, they can't really do too much of a serious stuff as far as I'm aware. Even if it is possible to do things like that, the chances are very low that they will. There are hundreds, if not thousands of Minecraft commands & mods that can find one's IP address - it shouldn't be a problem.

If you unplug your wifi router overnight, you should get assigned a new ip address. Repeat as needed

 

I forget what, but there was an thing we used in China that changed our IP address on the laptop, and the Ipads. I'm not sure if this affects anything. I'm guessing if someone finds this IP while using the program and then try when the person is not using the program the IP disappears or something? I don't know I'll ask me dad

 

Lol, all the people that mess with ip's are just dumb. One if you use a booter online that can just be traced, and you can also just have programs detect what ip is pinging your ip.
Finding someones stuff online isnt very hard at all lol.
Just dont put a lot of info on yourself.

People think is someone gets their ip its the end of the world, its literally minimally nothing.

if the get your ip, they cannot do anything to your computer unless you have a program that open a port on your computer. don't worry about ddos.

I did have a server port open at one point and, although it doesn't work, I checked the settings and it still exists! Should I close it?

Dan, really, no need to take any action at the moment. Trust me bud - there shouldn't be any problems. It's not easy to crack one's PC or internet using the IP address only.

Yes, the dynamic IP which the guy found will be changed once your modem reboots.
