Hello, I am JET the moderator on Skyblockislands.net.
I made a post like this in the past and it gained our server some more attention and all in all helped our server a lot, so I would like to replicate that but this time it is to fix bigger problems.

I will make a list of things that NoobCrew and CypriotMerkz need to do (Keep in mind I am not trying to b**** about the server but simply trying to make it a better experience for everyone). This will go in order from most important to least.

1. A server reset
2. Ultimate Skyblock Plugin update
3. Sell Shop Plugin update
4. More perms for higher staff and/or more activity from cyp or crew on the server
5. More Advertising. I know you guys get a good amount of donations, please put some to good use
6. A set or rules to replace the ones we have from 2012
7. A updated server shop
8. A overall new spawn. (currently we are using a griefed spawn)
9. New stuff. for example spleef or something to attract players and to make them stay
10. Players who have been demoted through buy craft need to get their ranks back
11. Forums that are up to date
12. Forum staff
13. Someone to accept/decline staff apps
14. Updated ranks
15. Updated PermissionsEX file

We need a server reset because recently we had all world guard regions go offline this lead to large scale griefing of the entire server and the economy is now even more screwed up then before.

PLEASE: Understand this is not me b****ing about stuff I kinda want, this is stuff that needs to happen in order for this server to survive another 5 months.

all i can say is... server resets have the ability to lose players. i know if .net reset and my island and items were gone, id not be happy. id imagine the same would go for there, even though it sounds like itd be necessary.

also, cyp and crew are very busy, its hard for only 2 global admins overseeing, .net/org,(combined is 750 compacity) mineverse (1500 compacity) and any other servers :/

we all need various updates and work :/ id imagine mineverse is top priority for work, then going down the ladder from there, with severity kept in consideration

 

Exactly. That is why we need staff to have more perms. Also at this point we would be losing more players by not resetting being that 60% of the islands on the server have been greifed

 

Support. I'm not that active on SBI but I have noticed that the community is slowly dying.

I support that a game should be added as people would enjoy it! I also support for the forums resetting and maybe becoming xenforo as, at the moment, it doesn't even say the names of staff part from Crew! I support everything else you said as well!

ehh... to be honest, best way to get noob to see/do it is through cyp/terrick.. theyd show him and then it may get expedited. otherwise you could like tag crew in this for a month or two and he may notice (due to being busy and they probably keep tagging off since so many tag cyp/crew)

I have been playing on SBI (SkyBlock Islands) for a long time now. I have been through lots of rough times on the server. I have built 3 servers and ran 2 of them. I have also had a bungeenetwork and ran that myself. I always end up coming back to SBI.

Let me break this down.

1) Server reset.
I have been through many resets on this server. I know the fear is that we are going to lose members but it is quite the opposite. Members do leave directly after the reset, that is true. Most of them do end up coming back. My experience is that the server gets VERY busy after a reset as everyone is working on rebuilding. Many of them will donate for higher ranks to make the rebuild easier. As I'm sure you are aware, a busy server retains new members much easier then a slow, empty one. The server is experiencing lag spikes even directly after a restart, mainly due to worldguard region files being absolutely huge and parsing them takes lots of CPU cycles. Also, during the downtime plugins can be updated because so many of them are way outdated. Because of the chestshop glitch, the economy has gone way down hill. I never though someone I didn't even know would fill my inventory up with deggs, spawners, anvils, and the like just "because". After this last failure of worldguard, it has become a must.

2) Uskyblock plugin update.
As far as I am aware, the last public release of uskyblock is version 2.0. I do NOT recommend updating to this. The menu is crap. It also still has the worldguard issues even though it is advertised to have fixed them. If you do update, wait for the 1.8 supported version as much more work has been put into it to fix the issues correctly.

3) Sell Shop Plugin Update
I think what Jet is talking about here is ChestShop. I never liked selling through ChestShops. Anyone who knows me knows I only use Essentials' trade signs. There is one exception however. When I'm using a shop to buy items, I prefer a ChestShop because I don't have to have a bunch of money tied up in a sign to do it. Many users prefer ChestShop due to the simplicity, this is a general plugin that absolutely needs to work. The free item glitch has been fixed, simply update it.

4) More perms for higher staff and/or more activity from cyp or crew on the server
Omg, this one. Servers don't run well without STAFF. Not having staff will loose you members forever. This is much more damaging then a reset. No one trusts Noob as he hardly ever comes on and checks on the server. I think this is sad. I have personally talked to Noob in the past and he seems like an awesome guy. I sure wish I saw more of him. The highest rank staff member we have that actually spends time on the server is Jet and he is a mod. It's pretty sad when your highest staff member cant even protect the server from attack or failed plugins (worldguard). I could go on for ages about this topic but I digress.

5). More Advertising. I know you guys get a good amount of donations, please put some to good use
It's your money to do with as you wish. If you do not reinvest it into the server to make more money, that is up to you.

6) A set or rules to replace the ones we have from 2012
I think for the most part the current rules from Kenzie are great, just do some updating to them.

7) A (an) updated server shop
The shop is good how it is, but it's fragmented. Bring it all together without having 2 warps and a ton of empty space and it would be great. Awesome opportunity to practice your worldedit skills.

8) A overall new spawn. (currently we are using a griefed spawn)
Personally, I couldn't care less about spawn. I spend VERY little time there. I only use the shop when needed and for voting. A menu such has bossshop to do these things from your island would be great BTW. I have done it on a prior server and the members loved it! Very time consuming to setup however.

9) New stuff. for example spleef or something to attract players and to make them stay
I do not agree with this one. There are things to do around the server without extra needless plugins that just are not widely known. Such as the mob arena. There is also a big parkour area that I don't even remember the warp to. Kenzie was very good at developing these attractions with her crew.

10) Players who have been demoted through buy craft need to get their ranks back
This one is just pathetic. There is a right way and a wrong way to setup buycraft. This is a perfect example of the wrong way. Setup required packages and one time purchases. Separate full ranks from upgrades and do not let them go back and forth. I have setup buycraft in the past that did not allow any rank skipping or de-ranking. It's really not that difficult.

11) Forums that are up to date
This is directly connected to the lack of higher ranked staff on the server. Get them and have them actually post updated info on the forums.

12) Forum staff
See #11 above

13) Someone to accept/decline staff apps
Once again, see #11 above.

14) Updated ranks
I think he is talking about the rank packages. How about actually advertising things that are available? Pets no longer work...

15) Updated PermissionsEX file
I'm sure Jet is referring to the fact that older staff perms were added separately and not as their primary group. When the old staff were de-ranked, they did NOT lose their staff perms. Don't get me wrong, I have called on them to save us in the past as there were no high ranking "official" staff to do so. Just purge the old staff from the file and add new staff.

Wow, boy was that a mouthfull. I'm sorry for drawing this way out in length, but I think it had to be said. I just hope this post does not go unread and was all in vein.

 

I completely agree with this, The server needs a reset especially after all the grief recently. I think it'd be nice to give people the stuff they get back from when they buy their kit, Like give Gods their $2 mil back after reset and their 500 Diamonds, Im VIP so getting my items on purchase back wouldn't really do much, Also unban all people banned for grief, the stuff they stole is no longer there so their violation against the rules is no longer valid.
