Add Ebola to Pwnfilter

    If you want to protect yourself from anything, please maintain proper hygiene and avoid sharing of anything between friends. You're coughing, then stay home and get better. Cough in your elbow pit, not in your hands. Use hand sanitzers, eat healthy breakfast, and workout to keep your body & immunity at its best state of performance.

    Why not just add malaria if you're going to add it because in 3 days malaria kills more people than the whole Ebola crisis has caused.

    Malaria, albeit dangerous, is not spammed in chat. Ebola spamming/joking in the chat is causing upset. For the time being, Ebola is the prime focus of the media. It doesn't belong on a Minecraft server. I'm here to play.

    exactly. While the us is busy worrying about ebola, there are so many other issues, and they are joked about just as frequently and are not treatable. In places with not so good health care, malaria is a huge killer. Ebola is just a trending thing right now. It will die down when people realise they will probably never get it at all. Which is why I find it ridiculous to put it in the pwn filter. I say to people who want it in there, with no offence intended, to just deal with it. Put up with it being able to be said. Because no matter what you put in the filter, people will bypass it. People will just go ebo la or ebo.la and make the joke. No different to the situation we have now.
    So as i said, go report it if its too offensive, let the mods kick and warn the players, and also remember the huge list of other things that should be in the pwn filter but are not added and we put up with it.

    So play the game.
    So next time theres another disease in media focus and gets joked about we should run and try and get it blocked just because its offensive? I have a few issues with certain words such as rape. Do i say lets add it in pwn filter because people use it in joke form? No, I put up with it, and if it gets too much I leave or tell them to stop. Certain topics make people uneasy but that doesnt mean we can censor it to try and stop it. It will not work. Disagree all you want but it wont work adding it to the filter at all. Ebola isnt a cuss word, isnt illegal to say and people can bypass the filter anyway.

    I always keep the mindset of when appropriate, making a joke of a serious topic lightens it up, and should the worst happen, it doesn't effect me as much as it would otherwise.

    Therefore, as long as it isn't being mentioned in a rude manner, I think it is fine.

    Krissy, I think you may forget that Skyblock has primarily 10-16 year olds playing. You may be more emotionally mature and able to ignore ebola spam, but some aren't. Heck, I'm 29 and the thing scares me. Instead of ignoring, why not try to combat the spam issue? Sure, players will find ways to evade the filter. If this is added and even one string of spam is prevented, I will consider it a success.

    I know the age group of skyblock. Majority of the people who even mention it are around about that age and say it with no context which I saw, and saying you have ebola is barely even offensive since if you did you would be at the hospital not playing a server.
    The fact is there is no combat to this issue apart from human intervention which in the time the spam happens there should be plenty mods. Besides I was online for a good 3 hours and there was no mention of ebola at all. Use it to inform rather than trying to block.
    eg. Please do not joke about diseases, they are serious matters
    a server is no place to talk and make fun of serious illnesses.
    etc.
    There is a worst spam issue than ebola. Trust me. yet the word Lag still isnt in pwn filter and that generates uncontrollable spam when the server crashes.
    Still no support, there are other ways.
    Im not commenting any further, i have just repeated myself several times.

    Everyone makes inappropriate jokes, Ebola is just another one. Ebola is just a short term scare. When people first discovered any disease, or sickness, there's bound to be one person who jokes about it. If we're gonna add Ebola to Pwnfilter, we might as well add every other disease out there.

    Why should we add other diseases if those other diseases aren't causing spam...?
    Of course there might be an immature person joking about Malaria or AIDs sometimes, but it doesn't cause as much spam as Ebola.

    Whats the point of trying to compare Ebola with Aids or Malaria? That's not even the problem here...
    The problem is that people are spamming a "Certain" disease in chat and it's causing problems.
    This isn't a thread to find a disease worse than Ebola nor is it a competition.
    Stay on topic please.

    As for my support, it would have to be a 50%. I haven't been on much and haven't seen the extent of how bad the spam is. Also if Cyp were to add a word in pwnfilter, he would have to add other certain words too that cause spam.

    Then ignore it and play. I dont know why you have to blow it out of proportion. Ebola, to those who have a certain sense of humor, is an entertaining joke to make in certain situations.

    If you are so bothered by it, /ignore is a thing. A thing that is good in this situation. A thing that you should use.

    If you're gonna add any disease to pwnfilter because it causes death, then add all things that cause death. This includes but is not limited to, Cancer, molaria, breathing, running, climbing, jumping, oh wait, almost every freaking thing can kill someone. Even paper.

    Get over it.

    I'm not going to side with either of "it's a serious manner" or "it's being taken as a joke"
    It's just a thing that will pass as soon as it gets cleared from America and every other country besides from Africa, if you didn't notice that the awareness escalated when it hit America. It will pass eventually. We didn't block "EULA" when that was happening, or "Microsoft"

    Just a thought.

    And by the way, people saying that you're just playing when you joke about Ebola. I don't see anyone making jokes about Cancer all over Twitter and forums.

    It'll pass. This is a temporary thing, by next month, it'll be forgotten about. I play on about 8 Minecraft servers a day, including net and org, and there's not even a lot of people talking about Ebola, there's not even enough peoplesaying it to cause spam.
