It kind of infuriates me when players in chat are talking about "omg microsoft is buying minecrft for 2 trillion dollars and they are going to ruin it because theyre going to get rid of creeprs and no more servers or youtube!!"

No. Microsoft knows that there is a huge community surrounding Minecraft. They know about the great servers, they know about the great youtube videos, and they know what they are getting into. Microsoft will not ruin minecraft, I am sure. Because it is likely that many of the main Minecraft developers are staying on board with the game, not much will change.

So, no. I don't think Microsoft will ruin Minecraft.

I don't think Microsoft will have much control over what they add to the game. Most likely they will deal with business and such.

I see that, but I think Microsoft realizes that any major changes to gameplay would lose them alot of players.

I have two things to share.

    Number 1:

    Number 2:
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] upload_2014-9-24_18-7-4.png

The thing is that Microsoft has already added DLC for skins on the Xbox version because that's what they have jurisdiction over... How long until that happens to normal Minecraft? I mean, from the business perspective, the players who have already bought Minecraft can't earn them anymore money, so why care about what they want? They'll add all the DLC they want because the spoiled little 10 year olds will get their parents to buy them.

Notch was interested in the community; Microsoft is interested in the money.

Microsoft doesn't want to lose profits from a game that is profitting.
Minecraft is an extremely popular game, more so on the console edition. No one is going to buy anything for 2.5 billion dollars, I don't care how much money you have, just to shut it down, especially a orginization that makes consoles, windows, etc.
Microsoft wants to benefit from this, not be down 2.5bil. People have extremely bad bias towards Microsoft.
I can understand why, but not every single action they take is going to be bad. Microsoft will have more staff on the game, which means faster updates, and maybe more features to the game(hence, they may not be the best of). Survival aspected ones even? Minecraft does have most of it's population from multiplayer. Every company has an up and down.
Also, Microsoft isn't completely run by idiots. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll screw up the game in a month flat. They will not make it "microsoft product only" they want to profit. Not screw up.

tl'dr; Microsoft wants to benefit, not be down 2.5bil, they'll try to make it better.

I think Microsoft will improve the game but also Ruin some aspects of it. The only reason they would buy Minecraft for that much is if they see a money making opportunity in it. They might monetize the game and charge for updates or even make DLC's that cost money to add cool features to the game. Monetizing the game is probably the only bad thing Microsoft can do, other than add things that makes the normal gameplay a bit OP. Other than that, they would improve the game by just continuing the update process that Mojang started, keeping the features Natural and not making too big changes to the game. Also, Minecraft would still be available on Mac, since the game is written in Java, and they wouldnt rewrite everything in C++ just to make the game "Windows only". The updates might even come faster, since Microsoft can hire more people to work on the game :D

But would the updates really be the same and just quicker?
The answer is no, they'd be Microsoft quickened, unnatural updates of no value to people who actually care about the game.
