Questions about branching off

So I'm trying to branch off from my island to make a new section of it..like 1 main island and and secondary one. So i find another island and I don't know what to do? I broke off my leaf bridge and i am going off in another direction...what do i do? and is it illegal to branch off like this?

 

You can only build off 49 blocks from the bedrock, don't go onto the other islands around you.

 

I didn't go onto the other island,i was about 35 blocks away from it. When i saw it i immediatly broke my bridge and came here

 

Good idea. If you were 35 blocks away though, you were still too close, as they should also have 49 blocks from bedrock to build in. Go to your bedrock, and count out, and do not build farther than that. If you do, you can get banned for bridging and/or part of your island could be cut off from other people doing /newisland replace.

 

Just make sure you don't go over the 49 limit and you'll have nothing to worry about on your end, if you do, and the other island resets it will reset the blocks you put in it's area.

 

If both parties build 49 blocks from their bedrock both islands would meet exactly. So I would recommend building down rather than out too far.

 

I thought there would be a 3 block difference.
