Okay, so most of you have seen or even made applications that explain that they can use Google Translate to convey their messages in another language. This, is NOT a reliable source, unless you are looking up a single word or simple phrase. Google Translate grammar is either awkward, improper, or just plain bad. I strongly suggest you do not use Google Translate as a "language", as it can be wildly inaccurate. Also, it's not a language, so why include it as one? That's not you speaking, it's a computer. If you are going to include other linguistic abilities, make it a language you can actually speak.
I agree. I would never count it as a language, I just put it to show that I would take the time to look up a translation if necessary to help someone.
I doubt anybody applying would even bother to use google translate anyway. moderators are way to busy, and you would have to type it our word-for-word into the translate box thingy as nobody can copy (ctr+c/cmd+c) others MC messages. And you might not even know what you are translating from..
Once, someone meant to say to me they like dogs, and they accidentally said they like "female dogs" ._.
Google translate isn't actually that bad, I've had whole conversations using it, it's just if the other person can understand, say if I saw someone saying 'I like dogs' in another language using google translate to say 'Me to!' could change into 'Aswell me' (only thing that made a bit of sense xD) and the other person might be able to understand it. Oi; On MCLauncher, click Edit Profile, tick the box saying 'Launcher Visibility' and click 'Keep the launcher open' then click the tab saying 'Development Console', not that hard to do. Just copy and paste the thing into google translate and click 'Detect Language' paste your thing there, click the langauge BLAH BLAH BLAH you know how google translate works. But yeah, easy. kthx
I like to make games out of google translate: write a sentence and go through 10 languages just copying what it says, then go back to English and see what you get. :3
Tis always funny to put some lyrics to a song in, to translate, then translate it to a few other languages, then back to English. The result is quite amusing, to say the least.
the problem is that there are many different ways of saying things, and even it's the same language people will differ in how they talk depending on the regions. google translate can't take that into account and it can't take into account the slang that is used in the different languages. google usually uses the literal translation of something. for example, in spanish speaking countries, "Que pasa ese?" usually means something like, "What's up man?". however ese literally means "that", so if we toss slang aside they're literally saying "What's up that?".
Roblox...... hah - I remember when I had an argument on Roblox on what country is the best it was funny. But on a serious note... Google translate can be quite useful. Some words/phrases it will mess up, others it will translate perfectly. I speak Itallian kinda fluently and decided to give Google Translate a test. Maybe 85% of the paragraph was beautiful and was how it would be in real life. But what Google Translate DOESN'T do, is in Italian you have formal (talking to the Italian President style) and informal (talking to your friends style) and it chooses one or the other so in some contexts it will just mess up. But on the whole, it will be fine. I agree though, don't completely rely on it and treat it as it knows all the language.
I used Google translate when I'm on the server and I see "Welcome (name) to .Org" and then they talk in a different language c:
