Tip 1: When you are trading ask to see the item in his hand
Tip 2: If you still don't trust that the trader has the items go to a chest and tell them to flash the items in a random spot in the chest (this way no one can take it but you can see it)
Tip 3: if the deal is too good to be true it is most likely a scam
Tip 4: if a mod is available ask them or watch the trade
Tip 5: if you have recording software record the trade
Tip 6: MOST IMPORTANT always trade in a chest so mods can log it.

Don't let them force you into putting your item in first

But if they both follow your guide...

    Player one: "you go first"
Player two: "no, no, no. You go. I'm afraid I'll get scammed"
Player one: "no WAY! you go first!"
Player two: "But I know you'll scam me!"
Player one: "Look, here, I'll show you my items! I have them!"
    *shows
Player one: "Now, come on, I promise I wont scam you, gimme the items!"
Player two: "I don't trust you."

*and it goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on..... and the trade never happens

Remember: Mods and 400 donors have /invsee. If mods are too busy, get a 400 donor check if the player has the correct amount of items for the trade :)
And also take screens, even if a mod is present. Just because a mod is present doesnt mean someone wont scam.

I used to trade at skybase c: I took photos..and if it was a donor I used to have them trade on my island in the chest..in a room of private furnaces xD...but I know some may say never go for offers that sound unbelievable but a non-donor was selling back in the day a enchanting table for 18* grass... everyone told me it was a scam.. I still have that enchanting table... :>

I tried to auction a stone pic on my second day on .org. It had a bunch of cool enchants that I got from killing stuff and using the enchantment table at warp larry. I set the bidding to start at 1$ No one placed any bid on it though, until the last second. So I only got 2$ for it :(

I find that scamming is less common on .org... I generally trust people enough to not take screenshots. I trade often, and yet have still never gotten scammed there. or maybe im just getting lucky

I agree, I always see messages like "selling diamond for 30 grass but you put the item in first"
