Why not fix the merging? Instead of removing quests/features. Pigzombies now merge rendering gold farms broken and no longer working. Mooshroom cows stock so can't be sheared Sheep merges have been broken since day one, making spawners worthless for coloured wool farms. As you mention pigs now merge.. Clearly its not a case of the quest being what's broken, Rather fix how mobs merge and stack and separate. Maybe allow nametagged mobs to not stack? Like vanilla actually does
I completely agree that they should fix the merging but they are aware of the problems that were caused by that and yet it’s been left as it is. As you say, sheep merging has been messed up since the update but it’s still not fixed. So, sadly I don’t hold much hope for a proper fix but I know at least they can remove this quest for now. If and when they fix the merging then they can add the quest back in.
Yeah that's fair, I fret that if we keep asking staff to remove certain aspects of game play, eventually we're going to have a broken server due to boredom lol. Every good feature of this new update keeps getting held back**spawnershops** or just disregarded altogether before we even get to trail the features**jobs** Eventually what is there going to be left for us lol
I think it’s Technically possible to complete but requires to only have 2 of the mob next to each other and not 3 as at 3 is when they stack if I remember correctly. so you could breed the 2 and then kill the baby because when they grow up next to the 2 mobs they will stack…… lol
With how long it takes the breeding cycle to reset, and animals be ready for breeding again. That would take an obnoxiously long time to complete the quest.
It is technically possible but I've only done it once since things went sideways. 4x named pigs (but the naming isn't required) two to a run, with the runs broken into pens so I can kill the baby without killing the adults. The runs being far enough apart prevent 3+ from being close enough to merge (as does killing the baby before it grows). 4 adult pigs took me most of the day coming back and forth from my work machine every so often. Beyond irritating. Could do it faster with more runs of pigs, it would just take up a lot of room. The more irritating thing to me is the brand new shearing mechanic that shears the entire stack for 2-3 wool. That one is new, at least to me. I've been shearing and then babysitting my pink sheep for weeks and now, one shear and done. Zero benefit to a stack of sheep anymore unless you want to slaughter them for mutton. Edit - I didn't have 32 pink sheep at the last Sheep Shearing quest, so I went to passive and that's where an entire stack shears. On my island, they still shear one at a time. Not sure if it's because they already existed or what. My stacked sheep on my island shear as a stack now as well. I think I had "pre-stacked" sheep that didn't shear, but once they re-stack...shear as one for a whopping 2-3 wool. My cows don't stack either, but pretty much everything else does. Edit 2 - And after tinkering for a while, pigs on a lead don't stack, but will breed. Building a pen with 4 stalls with 8 pigs in each that are all on leads. Breed, let the baby pigs stack and/or grow, put them on a lead and get them out of the pen so you can kill them without killing your parent stock.
