Closed Discern criticism from disrespect

Obviously with the release there are a lot of players questioning changes and choices and yes, some are being critical so I think it needs to be noted that we are entitled to be critical so long as it’s respectful.
Too many staff jump on criticism and call it disrespect and that is not good for staff/player relations.

I’m happy with and thankful for the effort that server staff are going to but I do think this release came before it was ready.

Of course this suggestion goes beyond the release and should always be in play and I ask that any staff reading this to understand that this post is made with respect and its goal is nothing more than mutual respect and better staff/player relations.

 

This needs to be addressed, I been muted many times for disrespect (some may be fair) but most of the time is just joking around and no ones is being hurt. If staff would give a good reason as to why it is disrespectful and to why they think that way would clear a lot of thing up for us naughty player >. This would also make the rules and guidelines more clear and concise to all Skyblock player and staff.

 

Perhaps my experiences are different than others, I can only speak to what I've seen, both here and on other servers / other places online / offline in real life.

Whenever I've seen players or people or whoever try to make the criticism Vs disrespect argument, usually they're actually just being disrespectful and don't want to admit it. When someone claims they are joking but the jokes are just rude instead of funny, or when someone says they're "just giving an opinion," but the opinion is "staff suck at their jobs and I should be in charge."

When for example the server is being updated and someone's in discord or the hub the whole time complaining about how long it's taking and how much better it would be if they were in charge of the process? That's not criticism, that's not a joke, that's disrespect of the Devs and the time they volunteer towards this server. And I know we've all seen loads of that behaviour over this past week.

Criticism looks like "there's a block in two places in shop selling for two different prices, that's a mistake and they need to fix it."

Disrespect looks like "They've had months to work on this, why are there still bugs in it? What's wrong with them?" Or "They said 4pm, it's 4:05, why isn't it up yet?"

I have seen a great many players over the last week, warned multiple times for being disrespectful, who seem to have no concept of how rude they were being and just carry on being rude. Perhaps if anyone is being warned by the server staff for being disrespectful, instead of getting defensive, they should have a look at their own behaviour.

And finally, a gentle reminder that jokes generally have a punchline and need to be funny.
