No, immediately after I send the racist joke, I regretted it. I then proceeded to delete the racist joke and say, "wrong server." I knew I would get banned and it was a horrible decision on my half. Why should you be unbanned/unmuted? I have read the rules and will not do anything similar to this ever again. I will follow the rules. I know that what I said was wrong and I promise I will not do it again. I know how it feels to be treated badly, like the joke I sent which could've hurt a lot of people. I think we have to talk about the events that lead up to this punishment because they are ultimately going to impact how we move forward. Not so long ago you had posted in the no mic channel of our discord "I hate black people". Not long after you began using primarily dark skinned emoji's (Not wrong but with the context of your statement previously is unusual) and finally this offence that lead to your ban was posting a racist joke. If I am not mistaken did you not ask staff whether you could post a racist joke. The rules were obviously broken but that isn't what concerns me the most. Now I can't tell people how to live. If you don't like people of certain race or skin colour then that is your prerogative. However on this server these opinions must be kept to yourself here out of respect for the enjoyment of the server by everyone. You say that making the joke was a horrible decision because it would get you banned. Why was making a racist joke in the first place something you would do if you respected our diverse player base? You say you know what it is like to be treated badly but you would post hateful comments about someone's race? If you didn't get banned and it wasn't against our rules would you have apologised to people who you offended?
Yeah, I obviously would've apologized for what I did even if I didn't get banned, I was already going to apologize, no joke, but I got banned shortly after. I wanted to say it was a joke, say sorry, and that I didn't mean for it to hurt anyone. Lots of people tell jokes about my race and I don't mind, in fact, I think it's pretty funny. And me using primarily dark-skinned emojis was just matching the skin color of my skin (I just found this out), no racist thoughts were intended. I also wanted to say that I 100% do not hate black people, I also have a few black friends, and sometimes they make remarks and jokes about my race like sometimes I do. It's all just friendly jokes. All in all, I would've apologized for what I did even if I didn't get banned and I didn't mean for it to hurt anyone.
I do understand making jokes about your own race and how it is nice to reclaim the hurtful stereotypes. However we cannot keep tabs on everyone's race so we have to ensure all content is appropriate for everyone. I still am confused as to why you said you hate black people and have chosen to express racism rather than celebrating your culture? Is there something im missing?
It was a sarcastic joke, #no-mic being a place where people talk without mics on VCs, I saw someone in #no-mic say I hate like ___, so I said I hate black people sarcastically. Now that I think about it, that was a super unfunny and racist comment/ joke to make, I promise I will not make that kind of joke again. Side Note- I didn't know people saw that comment I made, and I'm really really sorry about that.
Hello, I have decided to unban you for this incident given that you have not been banned on discord before. However there will be a few conditions to this unban. The next time you post anything related to hate speech (racism, homophobia etc) and/or post inappropriate jokes then you will be immediately banned. The chance of a successful appeal will be low. We may be harsher on other offences as you have said you have read and understood the rules and your offence. Please let me know if this sounds fair.
