Disagree. The server doesn't lag directly because of entities, but it does lag a good bit from hoppers. If you reduce the amount of rotten flesh being cycled through hopper sorting systems, you reduce the amount of strain being put on the server. Removing it wouldn't make it feel modded to me. We already have removed multiple drops from various mobs, as well as artificially reduced drop rates of things like quartz and glowstone. Artificially modifying the mass amounts of rotten flesh that currently spawn would hardly make me think any different of the server given how heavily modified other aspects are. This isn't about making everything easy. This is about helping to alleviate a very frustrating issue, which is the mass amount of rotten flesh that isn't being used, and servers no real purpose. Nobody would stop playing Skyblock just because they don't get a million rotten flesh from farms. If anything, it'd make more people want to stay. Automated shops? How does that even deal with anything being mentioned, even as anecdote? There is a huge gap between lower rotten flesh rates and whatever you're talking about with shops. Removing/lowering the drop rates of useless items doesn't increase the value of the good items. We'd still get the good items at the same rate, and they'd still have the same value. This doesn't touch any part of the challenge aspect. You're missing the point of my comment. I was saying that defending keeping something because it's "a natural drop" was bad reasoning for a server where we have removed so many natural drops, and reduced the rates of other natural drops. Most of the armor and tools you get from drops are garbage. If you wanted to keep it more balanced, you could just remove the iron and chainmail drops. That'd leave you with just a rare chance of getting some truly trash tools or weapons. Along with that, leaving in low tier armors and tools would better support your original post, that people should have to add in sorting systems. Armor and tools often mess up sorting systems, as well as add an additional variable that systems have to account for. Along with that, armor and tools can't stack, so they lead to chests more quickly filling up. People would have to put more thought into how they handle their sorting and storage if they had to deal with low tier armor and tools flooding their sorting systems.
Guys, honestly, let's not bicker over rotten flesh. See, there's already a purpose for rotten flesh there if it needs to be argued about. Just keep it locked away. I keep everything just in case. Like Trin said, it can be a use to feed User's animals. Start giving it away if it gives you problems. Players will always find a reason to use something. Everyone just get along.
They're are other alternatives to hoppers, we can use water streams a much lag efficient way of transportation. if you're saying they lag because of hoppers, a sorting system only takes up 2 hoppers. getting rid of the drops would make it easier and get rid of the challenging aspect for players, therefor making the players job easier and having less effort. All of this can make the economy even worse. you will still need sorting systems for iron and the other items they drop Noobcrew wanted quartz and glowstone to be lowered to add more of a challenging aspect to obtaining these resources. he didn't do it for the cause of lag or making players gaming experience easy, but to make it hard and challenging to obtain these resources making it more interesting and funner to players rather then having resources handed to them. modifying the drops of flesh from zombies can make it easier for players to get iron or the good resources they want, again getting rid of the challenging aspect of Skyblock. I don't see what's very frustrating about having tons of mob drops its a natural drop if we just find a way around them like sorting systems, again having the drops are part of the challenge of skyblock and not getting exactly the resources you want. you are always going to have resources you don't want and players will have to deal with that by making sorting systems. if everyone stopped having to make sorting systems or do the hard/challenging parts of farms it would make the game feel very easy and eventually no body would want to play because its too easy and their board and don't have anything to go after. have you ever went to a prison server and just asked for currency there, you might find that an hour later your quit because things are just handed to you. that's why some servers disabled the pay feature on prison servers this is just one example. I used automated shops as an example as if we had them who would restock them their would be no effort into that which can also lead to players feeling board and have nothing to do causing them to stop playing this simple was just an example removing/lowering the drops of zombies would make it easier for the players to get to what their wanting they wouldn't have to go through the work of making a sorting systems overall just making it easy for them. what other natural drops have been modified besides armor from zombies, Pigmen drops, quarts, and glowstone. removing them made it harder for them to easily obtain armor of other good items considering you said "Most of the armor and tools you get from drops are garbage." all I am saying is removing it would just take out the hard and challenging factor which can lead to other item drops being changed to make it easier for players which can lead to players getting board and stop playing
Support! Gets so annoying when 80% of your inventory is full of rotten flesh and you have to exit out of warp mob Although the drop rate should be drastically lowered, as Bard said
For people thinking that think rotten flesh has a use, the only use is literally feeding your dogs with it. Unless you have dozens of dogs and you take them to warp mob or warp hostile and they all get hurt on a constant basis, then it would make sense. As far as I see, there's nothing wrong with either eliminating or throttling the amount of rotten flesh. If you were to feed your dogs you can use steaks, cooked lamb, chicken, and fish. Rotten fleshes hardly have a benefit anyways plus they can poison you and sometimes decrease your hunger bars.
Support from this reply, I know that I keep getting Rotton Flesh and Potatos from zombies, It kinda gets annoying, The rate should be reduced not removing it, This should happen to grinders, mob arena and /warp mob. (The rate right now helps the lag a bit)
I agree with this rotten flesh has 1 use to me and thats feeding to the dogs other than that its a void food
With all honesty why hasn't this been implemented? This is literally one of the most easiest things to do and it does't require a computer science degree to accomplish this, let alone an Associates.
yes, but it is also a more valuable drop which should be balanced; which is a good idea given people's play styles these days.
Except that food is easy to get at /warp animal and as donations. I haven't ever starved on this server.
Disagree this comment all you want, but it shouldn't be removed just because it's inconvenient for your zombie grinding/grinders. You have to think about the new players. As other people have said, there is use for it: a last food resource, inexpensive dog food, etc. Lower the drop rate a bit if this bothers you so much, but don't get rid of it completely.
Disadvantages of Rotten Flesh: Takes time to manually remove it from grinders Very little survival use (no one is eating this stuff) Takes up storage space Requires Redstone item sorters to remove automatically (more lag) Tons of useless and unneeded entities being created, moved and destroyed (more lag) Advantages of Rotten Flesh: 'But my dog loves to eat it' Completing this very extensive, comprehensive and needed cost-benefit analysis I have come to the conclusion that it is in the server and its players' best interest if this drop was removed (or reduced).
Sorters don't work properly as developers changed the mechanics of hoppers which now move 16 items at a time rather than one.
On classic, rotten flesh (at least used to be) a rare item. Simply because you couldn't get it from anywhere, it didn't drop or zombies couldn't spawn (I'm not sure which). It's because of this that I think removing rotten flesh entirely is not a good idea. Reducing drop rates would be a better option in my opinion.
