Before I start let me say that this isn't another thread where the "rich kids" are complaining. This is a serious issue for the server and something that I, as a long time member of the community, can see becoming a bigger one. This issue? The amount of nerfs and balances we have seen since the opening. Since beginning the server there have been many losses rather than gains. So sit back and lets talk about this. I first have to mention the kit changes for skygods and donor400's. Skygods, the new servers donor100's, had their kit cooldown increased from 1 to 2 days. However, no compensation for this was given. Similarly, donor400's were no longer allowed access to all donor kits. No compensation. Along the same lines, Skygods+ were no longer able to enchant for a while until it was given back minus silk touch due to a bug that should have been resolved. Donor400's lost several commands from their kit too. /tptoggle being one of the more used commands and /heal that wasn't really useful anyway but i'm counting it as a loss. Skytitans and Donor400's were promised setprefix which is supposed to arrive and donor 400's were promised elytra which is on the store yet not given to us. These have been sitting on a "they will be coming soon" stage since the server released. Then... the nerfs started. Everyone lost the ability to get totems and wither skulls, and even gold from pigmen. Pigmen saw a return with the nether except they were nerfed very harshly. Mob arena prizes were nerfed too and the arena was made insanely difficult for a smaller number of players. When the nether came out quartz ore was obtainable then taken away even though there was no real threat. Gravel, which is used in decoration blocks was make hard to get for no real reason and quartz drops nerfed to make it harder to obtain. Now we have cool downs on some of the more useful commands and sheep were removed from spawnmob. You may be thinking by this point "Krissy is just complaining about things now, you know they did it for a reason". I am very much aware all these things happened for a reason. But that isn't the point. This is... We have lost so many things since joining this new server yet there has been barely anything to compensate for this loss. Consider how much nicer it would have felt to have taken each loss but given something in return to make up for it. Can't spawn sheep anymore? Here, have llamas instead Lost a certain type of trail? Heres a parrot disguise instead Need to make gravel harder to farm from the nether? Lets add gravel at a decently high price at the villagers Donor 400 can't have all the kits? Make a donor400 kit or exclusive kit such as /kit gold We aren't all just complaining because we have nothing else but becoming rich and powerful on the server and want things to all be done straight away. But some things that are on lower priority such as prefix setting might actually be better to work of first because of all these losses. It is important that the server be running as smoothly as possible but what also is important is making sure the community is also happy in the meantime. Every nerf feels more like a punishment and it does little to the energy and life of the server and community. We are obviously very grateful for everything that is being done and everyones work and effort to making this place amazing. However priorities and perks should be returned, replaced or given when things are taken to restore balance. For the best chance at a happy community, this is a must.
I agree with everything on here, we aren't getting what we paid for which is quite unfair. We should definitely get compensation, it doesn't need to be much, but it needs to be something
In the end, it's a donation, though very few people treat it as such. You're paying to support the server, not to get perks. I'm a bit torn on a lot of these. The server has just opened, so it's adjusting. There are plenty of strange perks that make things more challenging on Classic, most of us just weren't around to see them be nerfed, or they happened over long periods of time. Still, a lot of the things you mentioned are legitimate problems, so hopefully that stuff is coming soon. After all, it's quicker and easier to take something away than to add it in, so naturally the former will occur first.
Don't agree with your perspective on the nerfs. I love the direction of the new server currently. They are making unobtainable materials easily obtained then removing/nerfing it. Every week I have something to do, if gold is obtainable all the time easily, the game would be a grind-fest where everyone just ask grinds like on org. Since we know the items like wither skulls would be not obtainable one day, it give us the drive to want to attain as many as possible. Thanks to this new direction of the server, I find myself enjoying it much more. See them as weekly events where we get to get limited edition items. Let's recap the few hidden 'weekly events' we had. Week One - Gold, Iron, Emerald, Wool event (Pigmen, zombie, vindicators, /spawnmob sheep) Week two - Emerald & Wool event Week three - Wool &Lapis event Week four- Quartz&Lapis event Like you said Krissy , it would be nice to get something as they nerf/remove something, but they are doing it. I find it quite fair and fun. That being said, I myself have not much to say for the nerfs of d400 perms and kits.
I agree with you, so many people (including me) think that we are paying just for the perks, not to help the server. Thanks for bringing this point up
In fairness, when you bought donor400, you were promised many perks. Yes you might be donating to the server, but in reality, people who buy it want the perks. Majority of the kits have been removed, many common commands such as /setprefix and /tptoggle are commands that we were promised. Yes this new server is a restart and yes they are working on fixing it, but at the moment, donor400's aren't getting their moneys worth and the perks they were promised. On the other hand, I disagree when you talk about the mob arena. I believe 20 people at the mob arena to retrieve the nether star at round 40 is a fun little challenge within the game. It gives everyone a chance at getting a nice start to their island. Agree on majority of the thread and I hope this gets fixed fairly soon.
Now please note. I don't disagree with nerfs and balances so please remember this. I am simply pointing out how not having anything replace what was lost affects players. Replacing what was lost doesn't mean equaling its value such as replacing gold farms for iron because iron blocks are worth less island level, for example. This means if gold was nerfed then give up a cosmetic we never have had before, or new items in the vote crates, or a new mob in /warp animal, or a new block in the villagers. For every nerf that take a perk something could be added. There are plenty of things that don't make the game easy and are just for aesthetic that could be given and would bring something different to the game. We all realise donation implies the owners do not have to provide any perks at all. However what does not mean they shouldn't at least give the community something back for supporting the server. With that in mind taking things away and being late on fulfiling promises can strain the trust between staff and players more, thus creating a more toxic community mindset. I wrote a thread asking people not to be too harsh right now as the server is adjusting. However now I notice a pattern which may hurt the server as it is adjusting. But look at the problem it makes. If you disable things while the users with more resources have farmed enough to have plenty of those items you create rares and valuables. All the people who don't have those items would need to trade creating a system where those with the least resources can compete or have a nice experience themselves. It creates a huge gap and could repel new players easily. I don't find this fair, its creating more problems. The mob arena should be challenging and it is. But the balance of it is poor. Bosses are strong if you end up on your own of with 2-3 other people. In large groups its easy but this cannot always happen. Putting out fires as they arise isn't going to work forever. I love skyblock and I play every day. I am rich enough to make it through. I feel for those who don't have a lot. I want everyone to have a purpose on the server but some attitudes make it very difficult for everyone to find enjoyment. Sometimes making things easy appeals to a lot of people, especially the younger crowd. Yet what donor want is more challenge. The simplest way is to create your own challenges, just make sure they are not at the expense of others.
Honestly, I don't see your point at all. Let's say I farmed alot of gold in the first week, now I am technically alot richer than the newer players. Which is cause I put time and effort into the game? Which make sense. As a new player in week 2, you could farm emeralds to trade for gold. I understand there are no, in my words 'weekly event' currently but I'm sure there will be. If you want to gain resources u have to work for it and trade it with players who grinded during the previous events. I personally didn't play in week 4 much and have no quartz, I would have to buy some but i find it fair... I mean it's what popular games out there are doing, having limited time events to gain items that could be obtainable on a later date or not. Also, they are not putting out fires as they arise, it is planned. They are intentional. I talked to Lee and the impression I get is this is the new direction the server is heading and I love it. Hey, let's be honest, just because there is a huge gap in new players and old players resources does not repel new players. It keeps the old players being here. I don't see your point at all. Players grind/spend time on the server to create a gap, to be richer than someone else. It is fair. Do enlighten me if I'm misunderstanding your point. I understand you are not disagreeing with the nerfs but want different other 'events' to replace the lost ones but there is, so what's your point? Are you trying to have new and more events? I quite like yr point of having more things introduced but my point is that there already is compensation of another event. Pardon me,I couldn't find a better word other than 'event' to bring my point across.
So just a little update Crew does really care about our feedback and two additions have been made. Elytra for donor400's is now in a one time /kit elytra Sheep have now been fixed too and are no longer disabled Spread the word
Also /spawnmob has a 1 minute cooldown between using the command ;/ EDIT: Also theres a 1 minute cooldown for /repair too ;-;
We don’t deserve anything. It’s a donation. Shall I quote you? “I want to be perfectly honest here. You telling people not to donate and support the server is not a good thing. Just because there are other things out there that do the same thing it is not right to encourage people not to donate. It is a perk that doesn't cost much that enhances gameplay and is a thank-you for supporting us. Server bills are not cheap and every bit counts to extend the life of the server. So actually think about supporting the server and purchase night vision if you have the cash and maybe try not to discourage people from donating to help this server, especially since everyone seems to be concerned the server is dying.“ This thread is discouraging people from buying ranks on the server and thus contradicting statements.
Prefixes are back. While I like the idea of nerfing the nether, I think they over did it. I spent an hour in there and got like 10 quartz after mining like 50 deposits. That’s not blocks mind you. So while I like the idea of needing the nether, maybe nerf the nerf if you know what I mean. Also ma j is just impossible now.
COMPLETE agreement. I liked the farmability of gold and others, if you’re going to need it keep the same drops but make them unable to spawn from personal spawners (eg, only nether and warp mob) Same with many of these other things. I liked it much more when there was a survival aspect rather than just an economy aspect.
If you read the replies I said pretty much the same thing to lycel about how they don’t owe us perks. And no, this isn’t encouraging people not to donate. That is not the point of the thread. Never once did I say the rank is not worth it nor they should boycott it. If you actually understood the message I was trying to put out then you could see it’s not about donations, it’s about the community gaining something to compensate for losses because losing things constantly isn’t a nice feeling and not about the fact nerfs are bad and donating is pointless.
Great point. Completely agree. Only wish you understood that on my old thread when you told me I was discouraging donations hahaha.
Thank you so much for making this. This is what I have been thinking since starting back. I had to surrender nether ore to a moderator, something that I spent a while obtaining. I complained and was told 'deal with it'. Cooldowns have been introduced, my kit has been shortened, those who had the chance to get gold and things from the nether and warp mob and the arena are now ridiculously rich because no one else can obtain such things. I'm still waiting on some form of compensation for this. I paid money expecting something; money I worked hard for because I purchased this rank when I was younger and had no income, and have now had that compromised. Again, like Krissy said, this might seem like 'rich kids complaining'; but it isn't. Paying for something on a server doesn't make you rich. It means you enjoy it and either want to support it or enjoy it more so. I'd really like to see something done about this.
Support - wait this isn't a suggestion thread Well it should be because the points you bring up about replacing the previous perks lost is a great one and it could be applied well on the server. I am happy to see some progress though!
I mean yes its a donation, but seriously what is there to gain from taking away our perks. Also alot of these things have effed the economy even more as common things are suddenly incredibly rare. Also who the heck thought it was a good idea to nerf the nether that much.!?!??!!
