I am looking to help out the server and become a moderator. I have experienced being a moderator before but want to know how it feels and how it is like on Minecraft skyblock. Can someone tell me how it is like? Or is that something I have to experience if I get that role?

You need to fill out an application on the moderator applications section on the forums. If you get accepted, you will become a mod, but you need to be active and helpful to players on the server, and log in regularly

well I only moderated in a different kind of community-- so about.. a long time ago on skyblock.. so this may not be accurate but moderating was veerry fun for me, you'll be messaged a lot depending on how much staff there are actually online. I remember finding it hard to ban advertisers, being contested with all the other great staff members > haha. if you are the only staff on the server you'll be here and there alot of the time, and there is a lot of forum work youll be doing as well depending on your position or how many people youve banned, umm im starting to have brainfarts as im trying to remember haha my memory is very vague xd was a while ago anyways. but overall i enjoyed the experience :) took time to get used to, but the team will grow onto you like a family in no time. youll have to find out once you find your place in the community, apply, and then become mod. (*oh and ignore the people who vigorously attack you verbally, you may be pressured a lot but its nothing to stress about)

    Lemonade's fast fingers.

I've moderated since 2016 and honestly it's been a great experience. I think it depends on your intentions to be honest. Like Layla said, the team becomes your family and you get attached to them in no time. You start to take on a different place in the community and for me, I started taking the position as a role model for people who also aspired to become staff.
Sometimes you can get overwhelmed by some things and you have to be quite organised but overall it's a pleasant experience. My only advice I could give is only apply for moderator when you think you could benefit the community.

Being a moderator for me was quite easy but if you take it too seriously you it can get to you. You have people who won’t like you just because you did your job, you are watched and critiqued even if you don’t want it.
Overall you will be busy answering questions, handing out punishments when necessary and being part of a group. If you do things well enough you gain a lot of respect.
Everyone’s experience will be slightly different because you make your own experience.

With that being said, becoming staff is a mixture of showing maturity, dedication and even knowledge of the community. Having a strong connection to the community is a very important trait that may not be the most necessary, but it does help.

I could go on but I think people get it by now

    My personal experience:
As has been mentioned, your team are like your family. Being part of the staff team has been wonderful and whenever someone is having trouble for any reason, we can be sure that there are staff members who have our backs. Occasionally, you might disagree with a fellow staff member--after all, family fight with each other more than friends do. Despite this, I know that personally, even if I disagree with one of them, they'll still have my back in the long run.

The job itself is rewarding. For all the players who will try to push your buttons, "hate" moderators, make staff reports, it's all immediately annulled by a single sincere "thank you" from a player. Actually being able to make people enjoy being on Skyblock more is worth more than I think a lot of people realise, and it's heartwarming to see players loving Skyblock as much as you do.

It can be stressful. Some days it seems the whole chat is against you, and any action you take will be wrong. You will be trusted to make perfect decisions at all times. All eyes are on you, and if you trip up, you betcha it'll be a huge thing in the eyes of the players. Having that level of self-consciousness at all times can be exhausting and stressful, so at times, moderating isn't quite as rewarding as usual.

It's a huge time commitment. To be considered 'active', you're expected to go on the server and be vocally moderating for a few hours every single day. I know most moderators struggle with this commitment. I'm personally on summer holidays for one more week before I go to university--so I'm not entirely sure how I'll go yet. I last moderated during my first years of high school, and even then, my grades and activity both dropped during this time, making me feel as if I had failed at both of my commitments. It's a balancing act that you'd have to carefully plan and practice in order to not feel guilty all the time. Most moderator resignations are due to failing to balance their life with their moderation.

I think the experience of being a moderator is different for everyone. If you're less quick-thinking, the pressure might be a deal-breaker. If you're more sensitive, people pushing your buttons might be a deal-breaker. If you have a serious moral disagreement with a team member, it might also be a deal-breaker. I've been lucky enough that my only serious bump in the road was resigning due to senior school focus. It won't be the same for everyone.

All moderators have their own style, and way of enforcing the same rules - it's something you can learn and adapt to quite easily. What other mods do isn't necessarily strictly what you should do either, you may feel differently about a certain punishment or infraction, but as long as it's in the rules you handle it how you wish to.

There will be some situations that you're not sure how to handle, and you might have to ask another staff for their opinion, that's fine too.

Once you're a staff, you still have to remain with sharp eyes on chat, just like in the application stage... you will be looking for the same things on top of any chat offenders and people requiring a moderator's help.

It is a fun experience, and something which personally, if you have the determination and time, you should try. Good luck!
