In the past, I have reported comments that broke forum rules in threads and was told that if it is more than a couple comments I want to report, I should instead report the thread and write in the reason area provided that the entire thread needs to be cleaned up of rules violations. So basically, if there is more than a couple comments, I'm not allowed to report them one by one. However, when I have reported the main thread for its comments since then, I've found that many comments that break the rules are left behind. Therefore, I suggest we be allowed to report multiple comments in a single thread individually, regardless of the number.
No, you could get warned for abusing the Report function if you report more than a couple comments, as I have been warned in the past. You are supposed to report the main thread and ask a mod to look through the entire thread for inappropriate, off topic or whatever comments. I just think it would save the mods time if we were allowed to report individual comments, as many as there might be in a thread, as it would save the mods a lot of time. I mean if I come across a thread and decide I am interested enough to read through all the comments myself, I don't mind helping mods by reporting questionable comments. I just don't think we should get a warning for doing so.
You don't? If mods are warning you for reporting a post that needs to be reported, it's abuse of power. You're allowed to do so.
Natalia, I'm telling you from personal experience that you aren't allowed to do so but I think it would save mods a lot of time if we were allowed to report individual comments. I suggest you find a thread with a lot of rules being broken on it. Look at mod apps, they tend to be a cesspool, or some off topic threads. Then, start reporting the individual comments that break rules. Come back and tell me if you don't get a warning for abusing the report function. If you don't get a warning like that, and you come back with the notifications that your 4-5 reports from the same thread have been either accepted or refused, then I can say, ok, it was an abuse of power that I got reported for it. Here's the rule about it: Do not abuse the report a post function. Staff monitor all reported posts and abuse of this function can earn an infraction.
I report individual posts all the time. I was never told not to and it's easier for mods if you do it this way anyways.
I'm jealous. I'm on final warnings for both what I report and what I post in threads. They must like you more than they like me.

Which is abuse of the report function. Here is what the Spoiler further says on the Forums Rules regarding what abusing the report function is: "Abuse of the report a post function classifies as inappropriate behavior and spam towards the staff. Do not report a post if it has not broken any forum rules" However, I got a warning for doing the following: Reported 5 individual comments on a thread, let's say 2 for off topic, 2 for player disrespect and 1 for flame. I was told I should only report the main thread and ask the mods to look through it themselves, as reporting 5 comments separately is considered abuse of the report function. However, I interpret that it would be considered abuse only if the reported threads do not break rules. Therefore, my suggestion is that players be allowed to report individual comments so that none are missed and players who do this not be warned for creating spam or abusing the report function, as doing so ultimately saves mods' time.
This is a xenforo limitation. Nothing much we can do. But what you should do is report the first post that broke the rule. Then in the notes you should explain what posts or to what extent the posts are breaking rules. Or even just make a report in the report section and link every post by right clicking the #number and clicking copy link address and we can go through them one by one.
I see, was not aware we had that much room in the report reason section, good to know. Might try this, too.
Limit's on XenForo. Can't be added. Also you can't get warned for using the "report" button a lot of times (like: spam), If you do get warned, you need the report the mod for abuse!
Incorrect. Users should not be spamming reports with false reports as this hinders our mod ability. It is more forgivable if the reports are legitimate. If you report us for warning you because you did spam our reports tab we will have evidence to show you abused the feature and the report will not be successful. You can and will be warned.
I have no intention of reporting that mod. I'd just prefer to be able to report comments individually, and think it would be easier for the entire community to do so. It seems like some people can without being warned for it like I was, that's good. Personally, I think I'm done reporting multiple comments. I don't want to risk being banned for abusing the report function not because the comment doesn't break any forum rules, as Cyp mentioned, but for spam.
Please take note, Natalia and Benji. You have disagreed and not supported this suggestion because you think it is allowed, but it most certainly isn't. Perhaps the rules should include the "spam" aspect of the problem, as well.
Or, in the report forum have a sub section for forum reports. That way you can report large instances like you've said that can't be covered in a single post report.
