why the hell is it illegal? its my account? if what's posted by my account isn't offensive, isn't it my right to do whatever the hell i want with it?
Are you familiar with the Alt account rule on the server where you are not permitted to use accounts to bypass your punishments? In similar fashion sharing an account with a banned person follows the same principle. They are using an alternate way to bypass a given punishment. Account sharing is risky. Now here is where we look at your account, your responsibility. Meaning if a banned person posts from your account you will suffer the same punishment/ban. If they are not banned and post nothing offensive then fine, usually mods don't get involved. However if they do post bad things then your account is punished, not theirs. So in general we say, to protect users who may not make good choices, that account sharing is not permitted. Because it is similar to having forum alts, which is not permitted either.
I think my joke went over head. But the rule was never made up. It has been a staple part of the servers rule set for over two years and a rule the admin has enforced on many different occasions.
I don't remember if this rule is in the rules thread. If not, should be added so people are aware about it. I feel as long as nothing bad has been said through you account, sure, you do you. But if something has, just be the bigger person and realise that you are the one that trusted this person with account, therefore all actions will end up affecting yourself and whoever your sharing it with.
I still don't get why someone would want to share an account. I mean it's not like it's a rare, expensive good. It's free and available infinitely. So there is no reason to share an account. Anyone who wants to access the forums can make him/herself one. And even if it's for appealing, Appeal alt-accounts are allowed.
That is a valid question. My response would be is it makes the moderators job of banning people and figuring out who is who a lot more difficult.
