Replying earlier than normal to inform you all of some major edits that I made to the application. I restructured many qualification paragraphs, added "I know how to do a job," under qualifications, and added an "about me" spoiler in my introduction. Hopefully you enjoy!

The days of online anonymity are getting numbered. But not because of a government or a law; sheer convenience is slowly killing it. Facebook and Google single-signon for multiple sites combined with Microsoft's all-but-demanded link with your Windows 10 installation is really putting it all out there. With an opening like that I already have seriously high hopes for this application. Nicely worded, wow.

+1 for "timezone gaps" and not throwing shade on the current staff team for coverage issues.
Minor nitpick: Don't throw something like "I have almost every qualification" on a job application. Try a rephrase to "I have the qualities needed" or ignore me because this is an outstanding intro.

Liking the biography as well. Normally I recommend cutting out the "about me" parts or placing a link to your Intro post in the forums. A spoiler works just as well.

Ever walked by someone, said "Good morning" and they dumped an entire half hour monologue on you? That's what happened here.

Move this down into your "Qualities and Traits". You wrote an entire paragraph into a one-line question/answer slot. Very nicely worded section... just in the wrong place.

First, cannot stress this enough: Excellent writing style, zero problems. +1 immediately.
Second: This seems a little contradictory.

From reading the sections above this I see you were a staff member for a brief four months and then resigned. That sounds like burnout and you explicitly call out "burnout" as an issue. Color me confused, rainbow. Did you overcome this somehow?

Likewise you list self-control and not overplaying. This is good, but raises one of my (finely plucked) eyebrows when you also mention staying up until midnight or 3am every day. Are you Batman? Do you work the night shift...?

Recommend removing anything criticizing your future teammates. Also those people were promoted by the same person you are writing this application to. No-one likes to be told they make bad decisions. I can see you meant it as a back-handed compliment to certain people but it comes off as a bit catty.

This is the literal job description. Handle people fairly, respond to reports, work ban appeals, assist players. You said it very nicely but why is this section here...?

Spell check. Minor issue, just nitpicking; really not finding much to dig into here. Unless you take a left turn and decide to write about your "torturing animals" hobby I'll probably end up supporting this application.

Experience is the #1 thing that gets someone hired, everywhere. +1 for paragraph.

Why are you bringing up negative traits about yourself in your own job application? Sudden train wreck is sudden. This is the first time I've seen you go "off message" in this post, it feels like you're trying to get the first word in on someone's negative criticism. Remove this.

•scrolls back up, reads intro• Now I am just thoroughly confused. Your beginning says "midnight to 3am" but your play hours suggest a hard 11pm limit. Since one of the traits you're listing is how well you can fill the Australian time slot I am a little bit confused.

I am more confused than a Scientologist at an ethics debate. Please de-conflict statements or explain the difference...?

Cut this down to "Twice. Advertising and disrespect of a player".

The people involved with your bans (Cypriot, staff) already know the details. Everyone else (your supporters) are getting an eyeful of why you shouldn't be on the staff. You already know these won't matter, why go into exhaustive detail? Quit being an Oversharing Larry.

Well that was an interesting read. A lot of applicants need to sit down and learn your writing style; you're very good at highlighting traits about yourself and why they would make the server better. Probably one of the most well-written applications I have ever reviewed on Skyblock. Please don't turn out to be a serial killer.

Thank you so much for your support and well thought out feedback. I've thought a lot about what you've said and made some changes to my application. I removed the Spoiler regarding immaturity, I added my timezone as a reason for applying, and I fixed up the misleading activity section. I also shortened some sections while rewording others.

What I meant to say was that usually on weekdays I'll stay up till 11 or 12, and on weekends it's usually 12 or later, with emphasis on the later. I just wanted to state the bare minimum that I knew for a fact I'd be able to be online for, so as not to be misleading. Sadly that ended up happening regardless, but it's fixed now.

Again, thank you. Your post helped greatly, and the fact that you think so highly of my application makes me very happy.

One thing I just realized that I had forgotten to address was the "burnout issue." I'll just address that here in case anyone was concerned.


I understand that, from what it looks like, four months as a moderator with a resignation seems like a burnout. However, this isn't the case. I resigned because I was about to start high school, and the thought of that scared me. All of the pressure and responsibilities that came with it scared me into thinking that I wouldn't have time to moderate. Rather than take up a slot on the moderation team, I resigned so that others would take my place.

This isn't the case anymore. I'm a junior in highschool, which is considered by some to be the hardest year, yet I'm still applying. This is simply because I'm older, I'm more mature, and I know how to handle various responsibilites and manage my schedule. The issues that led me to resign before will not affect any future moderating that I do.
