Lmao I picked 50 so I'd be close to it no matter what. Turns out it didn't pay off. Thanks for having me in the competition, I'm surprised I survived round 1.

Quality, my dude. The length doesn't matter, if you want it to be one sentence long, it can be one sentence long.

Kane_x, come online and I'll give u the Diamonds.

    Heres my story:

    The Darfish Family

Somewhere off the Atlantic coast of Florida, deep beneath the waves that trade ships often traversed, lived a family of Florida Pompano which were very well respected in their local fish community. This family was known as the Darfish family. The Darfishes were very well respected for many reasons. But primarily, it was because they lead the annual migration of the local community between the northern and southern waters of the Atlantic. This position had been held by the Darfishes for many years. Although it is not entirely clear why the Darfishes were given the responsibility, as all the members of the community that had witnessed the transition between the previous holders and the Darfishes were now dead, the members of the community still respected their leadership greatly. In case you're wondering why there is no record of the transition. As you know fish have no form of written communication. Therefore, the only way memories of previous events were transferred was by stories told by the elder fish to their young. Due to this lack of record, it lead many fish to theorize as to how long the Darfishes had been holding the position. Some of them believed they had always had it, and that they had lead the migration ever since the first communities of migratory fish began to evolve millions of years ago. Others believed that every few centuries a psychic fish was born that knew when to change the leadership of the migration. But whatever way the Darfishes were given the position, they had it currently and would most likely have it for a very long time.

The Darfish that always lead the migration was the member of the family that the previous leader chose as his successor. The current leader of the migration was Shnitzel Darfish. Shnitzel was 6 years old, quite old for Florida Pompano standards considering most of them only lived to be 3 or 4 year old. Due to his old age, he was already slowing down in leading the migration. He nearly suffered a heart attack when he fell off his carrier sailfish and needed to be picked back up. This was another reason why it was unclear why the Darfishes were holding the position. As they needed carrier sailfish to carry them along, they obviously weren't the fastest fish, nor were they the smartest. This lead many people to support the psychic fish theory as it was possible that whenever the Darfishes were first given the position, that the psychic fish had seen something in the first leader Darfish that caused him to select him as leader of the migration. Either way, Shnitzel was getting old, and had already announced that his previous migration would be his last. Shnitzel had several dozen children that were eligible for the new leader. However, due to Schnitzel's old age, and therefore the old age of his children, he had decided that one of his grandchildren would be the new leader of the migration. Shnitzel spend several weeks looking through his elligible grandchildren (which he had several hundred of) to see who would be his successor. Eventually he settled on a young Darfish who had just been born. His name was Jeremy. Shnitzel already liked Jeremy as he had been talking to him quite a bit before he started looking for a successor. It was fairly expected when he was chosen as the new leader of the migration.

Jeremy had just started going to fish school when it was announced that he was chosen. When this was revealed he was applauded and cheered on in school by all of his classmates. Even before his choosing, he was fairly popular in school for being a Darfish. But now that he was chosen he was even more popular. His teachers always made sure that he did his best and knew everything he need to know for being the leader of the migration.

The time this story begins is in early December. Jeremy was in fish school learning about what his teachers were teaching him. Fish schooling was, at best, inefficient compared to human schooling. As previously mentioned, fish had no form of written communication. Because of this, most fish could not learn very much in fish school. However, every few generations, a fish was born that knew how to communicate in written form. This fish was very useful and needed in the community. When this fish was born, he would become an official who would write out letters and statements for the community and was very important. And fortunately, there was one of these fish alive at the time of this story. The fish's name was Johnson. When Johnson was born the community immediately knew to use him to their advantage. Johnson immediately sent to teach a group of the smartest fish in the fish community. Despite the fact that a fish that can communicate in written form only is born every few generations, there are rare fish that can learn how to communicate in written form from this fish. When these fish can be taught written communication they will often become teachers, politicians, or other important positions in the fish community. These fish will often seem very smart compared to their peers. Although they can learn written communication, they are incapable of teaching it to other people. Due to this most fish cannot learn written communication even from someone who does know it. Jeremy was a rare fish who could learn written communication from Johnson.

In his first few weeks at school his teachers noticed he was very smart and started to believe he could be a fish who could learn written communication. They immediately sent him to Johnson for education. Johnson's job in the community was to educate fish who could learn written communication.

On his first day of education from Johnson, Jeremy was immediately recognized by Johnson for being a leader Darfish. Johnson announce to the class that Jeremy was with them and was greeted with a lot of applause. Over the next few months leading up to the northern migration in May, Jeremy was taught written communication from Johnson as well as everything else he needed to know.

About 2 weeks before the northern migration was scheduled, Shnitzel was hospitalized for a heart attack. He sent a message to Jeremy to come to him so he could tell him something. Schnitzel told Jeremy that he was most likely going to die soon and told him everything he should expect about the migration. Jeremy understood and was ready to use this information in the migration. Shnitzel died 3 days after his 7th birthday and 1 week and 2 days before the northern migration.

The time came when Jeremy was scheduled to lead the northern migration. He mounted his carrier sailfish and watched as the fish in the community prepared for the migration. Many of them saying goodbye to any nonmigratory fish that had to stay behind in the southern waters. Jeremy called everyone to prepare, and they all left.

The migration took about 2 weeks as they braved the waters of the Atlantic. However, Jeremy was a good leader and got the fish through to the northern waters very well. The fish all made it to the northern Atlantic community and all settled in. Jeremy settled into his home and prepared for the next migration.
