Items not dropping

Hi,

I've had a bug twice today where I've used my pick to break a block, but the item doesn't drop.

Happened with an Emerald block and a spawner?

I was using silk touch and Clag didn't do it.

Anyone know what might have caused it?

 

It was probably the low TPS/lag and block lag on the server

 

I'm currently nodding to pretend I know what that means.

Is there anyway to prevent it?

TPS is pretty much Minecraft server time, like the way the server measures the lag. For example, if there's a high TPS, it's good because higher allows more redstone to occur. If there's a low TPS, less redstone is able to occur.
Block lag is just caused by Minecraft server time. There isn't a way that anyone can prevent it. Only admins can prevent it. Mods have some clearlag stuff that gets rid of a lot of "dropped items" on a certain island, though.

 

Okay, just strange as I've never had the problem before and today it happened twice. Frustrating times, and to think I was going to pick up a beacon earlier.
