Are Ban machines allowed? a.k.a Baners.

    So recently I made a machine that bans people for 30 mins using Ghost Block technology, blocks that are seen ONLY on your client and not on the server(So server thinks you are mid-air walking). I just want to ask if it is allowed cause it does not say it in the rules.

    They create client lag and any machine that creates lag to players and the server is not permitted, especially ones that disconnect people and console ban them. These are not allowed.

    Ghost blocks are broken in Minecraft 1.9.2. If the server updates to that, it'll be completely useless. As for now, if it's not used to harm anyone, I honestly don't see a problem with it.

    Yeah a lag machine isn't allowed lol. This isn't a lag machine. It's a piston thing that makes ghost blocks; a client side bug with 1.8. Nothing is wrong with this as long as he tells people that if they stand on the ghost blocks it will ban them for 30 mins. This is completely allowed according to the rules. What are you even talking about.

    It does make me lag. Sometimes my MC cilent get crashed

    thats based on computer and internet type normally
    it cant lag the server
    if the people lag... oh well
    dangarns island lagged almost everyone... it was great. it was his chests and the stuff inside.

    but uhh... on terms of your getting people 30min tempbanned.. ask more mods.
    id say no :p unless you let players know

    Generally when you get on the server and actually moderate it you find a number of developments and new observations which give you a different view on questions like these. Without observing the events that took place you do not fully understand where this question came from or the situation behind it, nor the context my response came from. It is directly addressing the poster and my experience from being on that island.

    Now you advertised this as a machine that will get you console banned and advertised it to people. Console bans are 30 minutes and not everyone gets unbanned straight away. This in itself is wrong, even if people voluntarily come to the island.
    The redstone contraption itself was lagging the island.
    The reason why it is not legal is for a couple of reasons. First the lag of the redstone + the server lag that occurs has the potential for banning and lagging players. Second, the contraption is now being used in an incorrect way.
    Bans will most likely not occur for having the machine. It is how you use it that will determine this.

    If you notice yours was destroyed as super mods felt that lag+console bans and the advertising you did was all was incorrect.

    When players abuse these kinds of bugs they are usually patched. This most likely cannot be therefore it remains an issue. But we don't want many people using these machines and getting people banned. The amount of ban traps and trolling... you get the drift.

    So illegal for now. Please do not make these machines.

    It's like 3 pistons and 2 slimeblocks; how is that enough to cause a substantial about of lag. The version he showed in the video is more complicated than it needs to be. Plus I can go on .net right now place some blocks at spawn jumping on them and I'll get temped for "flying" in less than 10 seconds. I can get myself temp banned extremely easily; that's hardly the issue. If people want to do it for fun why can't they? Just don't unban them. S-mod opionion or admin opinion pls?

    If anything it's the plugin that bans people for flying that is the real issue here.
