I think the people of skyblock should have a say in who is moderator. I think there should at least be an area on the forums where we can suggest who we think would be best for the job. How about a post for voting in the application section of the forums where we can vote who would be best for the job out of the people that have posted a moderator application? That way Crew could get a a player prospective of who we think is best for the job. Also we could have a vote of who out of the current mods would be best suited for the just of Admin. I believe this will help the servers to have a better staff.

See the issue is, if everyone thinks someone would be a good mod, that doesn't mean noobcrew sees that person fit for the job, or the other way around. It would indeed help noobcrew notice who's popular among the people. But it could also backfire and not give the less popular people a chance.

Its a nice idea, but it can be easily corrupted.

A terrible mod applicant can increase his chances of winning by promising free items to people who vote for him for example.

Exactly what Creekz said. Votes by popularity only work on smaller scale server where people know each other. But in this case someone promising people free stuff will get him votes, when the quiet / shy person who helps people without making it a scene could be a perfect moderator but because he's not as well outspoken or popular as the other guy may get shot down.

It's a good idea that gets the community involved but I just can't see it working.

I agree with creekz, but this could work as another thing.

Let's say, Noobcrew is looking for a good moderator, but has no idea where to look.
He looks at what the players voted, and keeps an extra eye on that people.
If he doesn't like them, he just quits it and finds another one.
If I/another mod see people giving items for votes, we will report this on the person in question's mod app.

The issue is still, the less popular players who don't talk alot in chat, will go unnoticed by noobcrew because of the voted / popular players he's looking through, whilst the unpopular people could be real good mod material.

Should have thought about that. It is true about the unpopular players could really be a good moderator. And it is also true that popular players would not be good moderators. For example the issuse with Minercaftrules47. He was a popular player and then took his power and abused it by selling creative mode items.

I have an idea to make both sides sort of happy. Have the staff make a special section on the forums that only certain people can access. The people that can access this area will be people that are chosen by the staff and are deemed trustworthy. These people will then be able to suggest and discuss who they believe would be a good candidate for mod. This prevents corruption because only people that are trusted would have access to this area.

I support the idea, but still a problem. The trustworthy people can have friends that they will vouch for.

Still, they would just recommend their friends, noobcrew doesn't make friends with most players, so he is the most neutral person you could find.
Everyone would pick their friends over a random player.

Thats the whole point of the people being "Trusted". They would choose people that they could Trust to be fair and whatnot.

The problem is that there isn't a lot of people who are like that. People will still have friends and the trusted people WILL favor there friends

There is not a single person, who plays on the server, who would not pick their friends.
It's in the human nature, you automatically think that the person you like has better qualities.

I think that people would end up making accounts and keep voting for themselves
