You do. It kinda sucks, but it happens randomly at spawn. If you stay still too long you will loose hunger till you come back and feed yourself, or die and loose the stuff you got.

 

It's weird cause one time I was doing that and left for soccer practice (2 hours) and I died. But another time I went out to eat (1 hour) and my hunger bar didn't deplete at all.

 

Idk, may be random or have to do with something with item gaining without moving. But it happens.

But the 1st part is true, it might take a while to get there, but you'll make it.

 

I don't remember much when I was a greenie. You could try selling food, or start to smelt lots of cobble to make stone, then once you get at least a DC of stone you can sell that for 3 diamonds per DC of stone.

 

I think its 1 dia per DC
Also you can make a really good stone gen for relatively little.

 

I thought a DC of cobblestone was 1 diamond and a DC of stone was 3 diamonds xD guess the prices have changed.

 

Lol ya, everything is cheaper now, I think at one point diamonds were 35-64 diamonds (for 1). XD
