um so far i have watched and enjoyed: Vampire Knight, Blue Exorcist, Ouran High School Host Club, and most of Fruits basket, some of black butler and hellsing. I have SAO on its way, full metal alchemist, some random animes and fairy tale to watch soon.
Name: Kill la Kill Genre: Action, Comedy ---Fan service Why you liked it: If you can get past the fan service, the anime is fantastic. The characters are great and the plot is too. Name: Nagi no Asukara Genre: Slice of Life / Drama / a bit of comedy / Romance Why you liked it: Fantastic story, I was squealing at my screen through most of the second half and the last few episodes had me in tears. Absolutely amazing animation quality except for 2 really bad CG scenes throughout the 26 episodes. WONDERFUL ENDING. Good endings are incredibly hard to come by in slice of life animes. Basic Plot: A long time ago, humans lived in the sea. This was made possible with Ena, a layer on top of the skin that allows breathing underwater. However, some of the humans left behind their Ena and went to the surface. There's a certain animosity between the surface and ocean people (with some exceptions), in other words they don't like each other. 4 middle school students (Hikari, Manaka, Chisaki, Kaname) have to attend school on the surface as a result of their current one closing. They encounter Tsumugu Kihara on the surface, Manaka befriends him and eventually the other 3 warm up to him as well. The sea god eventually begins getting angry that his people are abandoning the sea to live on the surface, so things start going sour. The rest of the story revolves around these 5 (as well as Hikari's older sister, her husband, their child, and her friend) trying to avoid certain destruction of the surface without having to live back in the sea as they don't want to leave each other. Tear jerker to the max. (Optional) Favorite gif: I wasn't able to find any really good ones, so here's one of Manaka being adorable: Bonus: The second opening song is beautiful. I love it.
