Let's talk about Skin Competitions

I remember a time when skin competitions were hosted at /warp skybase by not-for-profit generous people giving out grass and diamonds.

Nowadays, greenie after greenie as well as some donators are hosting their own "()()(SKIN CHOMP)()()", essentially ripping off their fellow gamers by encouraging them to trade one grass in hopes of winning a single god item. It's very rare a decent reward is offered, but even then the majority of people are left with a loss.

What is going on is unfair, biased gambling. There are plenty of ways this new "system" can be abused. One could, for example, host a skin competition and always choose their friend to win, then split the profits. This is scamming, and it's very hard to tell whether it's legit or not.

I feel we need to try and combat this trend, either with new rules in place against the use of competitions for profit or whatever else we, as a community, can come up with.

Once achieved, spam will also be significantly reduced.

This is not a suggestion, just a discussion about ways in which we can fix this.

It's your choice whether or not you want to enter. If people want to offer 1 god stick as the prize and 9 diamonds as the enter price, that's their choice. It's not like you HAVE to join the skin comp

 

Greanbeans get tricked very easily by these contests.

It's not scamming; it's just a bad deal. If you agree to the deal, then it's your loss.

 

Greenbeans also get spammed. It's not just donors. They shouldn't even be spamming anyway. As long as It's once per page, It's not spam.

People can choose to join skin competitions, It's really just their choice, if they loose, It's thier loss. If they don't want to join a skin comp, it's thier choice. They aren't ripping off any players by doing that.

I could see them scamming by always choosing players (friends) repeatedly.
There is no way to stop that anyway though. I don't really see people doing that though.

There is really no need for rules or anything. If you loose, It's your loss.

Also, I think this is in the wrong section. Shouldn't this be in suggestions? Or am I just being a wierdo. C:

 

Maybe you shouldn't rain on their parade since you'll find people enter on their own accord and/or for their own enjoyment with a possible chance to win, it's just like saying "Stop trading since there's a chance people getting scammed and people overpricing things" it's stupid. Also you act like all non-donors are morons, a bit rude if you ask me.

 

You need to stop being rude to non-donors. I see plenty of donors do this, and you're not complaining about them. If they want to do a skin competition, let them. They're not getting scammed, it's just not a good deal.

I'm trying to stop them getting ripped off, to keep them on the server longer. It's not very often you see donators spamming like this. If you want, I can include them too. I'll edit the OP.

 

Seems like you're taking the donator's side. Saying that they don't spam, is NOT true.

So if you think about it. What is scamming? One person gives their end of the deal, the other doesn't. Now if I pay for a skin comp, I'm essentially buying a chance to win it. If the person running it is giving the prize to a friend, you aren't getting what you "bought" (The chance to win) So yeah it kinda is scamming

This thread isn't about who spams what, it's about trying to stop people getting ripped off. Stop anyone getting ripped off. I am trying to help greenies, not slander them.

ye all greenbeans are noobs lets try and protect them from the harsh world omg.

whilst im at it im going to rate EVERYTHING i disagree with, with negative ratings because lol i can't use words.

But seriously, you'll find people can't spend money on the game and therefore stay a greenbean, heck, I see donors doing skin competitions a lot and just because some 'greenbeans' spam doesn't mean all of them do like jfc, I've seen my fair share of donors be complete and utter idiots and noobs.

 

I apologise if my using the forum rating system offends you, but it's there for a reason.

I also apologise if I care about new players when you think no one should even bat an eye when they're being blatantly ripped off or potentially scammed.

 

I know this has been mentioned before, but really, it's their decision whether or not they want to enter ._.
