I'm new, so I do not if any one else had this problem, but items that have different recipes between versions...have issues. For example, the change in fences results in a few issues, such as that attempting to craft more than just two fences at a time with the 1.7 formula will result in the consumption of ALL your sticks while only giving you 2 fences. In other words, a loss of a lot of wood for an unexpected reason. (1.8 recipe: 4 sticks and 2 planks for 3 fences of the type of wood the planks were; 1.7 recipe: 6 sticks for 2 fences) While I realize that the 1.8 server update IS coming (woo hoo), I feel that, in the meantime, users should be alerted that if they are playing with a 1.8 version on their computer, they may encounter problems when coming in to contact with changes between versions and to tread with caution. Fences are the only one I encountered so far (other crafting recipes may be to obscure to care about), so the stick consumption issue may be the only one in existence. I would put in screen shots of the oddity for proof, but I don't know how to put images in a url. Also, as a newbie, I would like to know The point of /warp airplane and /warp castle. They are cool and all, but no one can enter the plane, and does the castle have secret goodies, or just for some inspiration for what you can do with your island? Additionally, I know SkyBlock is traditionally in a snow biome, but since it never snows/rains, what's the point of dealing with freeze when it never snows to complete objectives? Do not interpret this as a want for rain on a server -- no way -- but as a plea to not have it both ways; I don't want to buy snow AND have to deal with freezing water sources when a snow golem gets the job done already.
The server hasn't fully updated to 1.8 yet. You can join with a 1.8 client, but everything server side is still 1.7.
I realize; I even said as much, I just wondered if, in the meantime until the update, if new users can be alerted to oddities that can occur.
At risk of sounding like a broken record because apparently I was unclear, I realize that it is updating, and as stated a few times above, I simply want a way for new users to be alerted that there could be problems jumping between versions, from server to client, like the aforementioned stick consuming issue with fences. This would be fixed in the update, I imagine, but in the meantime this would be convenient.
People generally yell out at us when they cant craft fences. A broadcast is helpful, but with the server set to be updated any day now its not worth it. Also Some /warps are mainly for decoration, like warp castle was a structure built by a player. There is no point to those warps apart from a cool place to explore and chill out. Because all skyblocks are in one map, they are spread out. The actual map is not all one biome. So therefore islands will spawn in different biomes. When water freezes its because you are in a tagia biome or a biome that water freezes in. This is because the natural mechanics of minecraft still work but we get rid of weather to reduce server lag and people generally get annoyed by weather. Fixing freezing water is as simple as covering it or putting torches around.
